BX Picnic anyone???
Date 8th October.
Venue: Duxford, Cambridgeshire (Top end of M11)
What's on? Big Air Display, US Air Force and Land Warfare Museums, plus massive static/hangar displays. A full day.
Bring a hamper...
I'll contact the organisers and try to arrange a 'spot' to gather... (An early arrival is always recommended - I suggest well before 9 am usually)
Entrance fee's big (£20 per adult) - but it's a brilliant day out.

I've been in touch with them and it would appear on an Air Show day it isn't possible to reserve 'pitches'. However, I suggest the following:
Turn up early. I would be aiming to get there around 8-8.15 am. This isn't so much of a probelm as there are plenty of things to do (include dozing in the car!). Enter the airfield (if approaching from the M11 end) on the airfield side (the left) - don't park over the road unless forced to - and follow the 'track' around to the parking area via the kiosks (you can't actually go antwhere else unless you have a Gold Pass). You should be aiming to park close to the sand-coloured Centurion tank that's parked next to the Land Warfare Museum, which is the large structure at that end of the airfield. That tank is a good rendez-vous point as it's very visible.
If you arrive later, try to 'negotiate' with the parking marshalls to get close to that point too, even if they try to make you park elsewhere.
It's a good idea to bring plenty of supplies of nosh and something to sit on (or even under!)
I hope the weather's good...
Should be a good day out.

I'm still planning to go, so closer to the time we should find out who's going (and PM each other with mobile numbers). I still think near the Land Warfare Museum's best. Unless something has radically changed since last year!
Should be a fun day out.

Well, I'm going are Baldbazza and Oscar still going? If so I will PM mobile phone number etc. and the plan is as before I'm going to park near the Land Warfare Museum. I will wait at the Centurion Tank outside it at 11pm to rendezvous with anyone from the forum who might've decided to come.

I hope to be going, Phil, but not yet 100% sure. If I do, it's likely to be in the Alfa I'm afraid, as I still haven't sorted out the GT's coil problem (or whatever it is), and I don't fancy another trip home on a tow truck just yet. Appreciate that doesn't quite go along with the idea of a BX picnic . I'll PM you my mobile number in case I can make it.Philip chidlow wrote:Well, I'm going are Baldbazza and Oscar still going?
