Where do you keep your spares?????

Post by Gareth Wales »

I'VE SEEN SEVERAL VERSIONS OF THE ANSWER TO THIS - mind-boggling tangles of oily things in cardboard boxes; impenetrable masses of "things" on the garage floor.
Me? They're all neatly labelled (NOT) and hanging off the rafters in a line of red Kwiksave shopping baskets (collected from a skip). So orgnaised am I that I have bought the same thing twice because I couldn't find the original.
All suggestions welcome.

Wrapped in bin liners or supermar't bags ..........coated in WD40 before tying a knot in the top ..and stored in a reasonably dry lock-up.
Makes for good fun when trying to locate an item.
:? "Now does this feel like an alternator,or a starter,or a carb .....No damn it ......it's a wiper motor ......so where the **** is that bag of electrical bits with the flasher unit inside" :?

Er, 2 lock up garages
6 buses (or it could be 7, not sure!)
My bedroom
Airing cupboard
Garden shed
3 buildings (barn type things)
living room
bathroom
kitchen
cars (always handy having a spare head in the boot when you trash as many as me!! :D )

In 4 counties!
Technically I own a set of rear arms that are in France so almost another country!! 8)

Hmmmmmm In 3 sheds, one loft, and a big lock up about 10 mins from house and loitered in all the non used vehicles also.

The problem is it includes lots of makes and models stuff (mainly 2CV but also including, rover v8, chevy, bikes, CX and BX and also some visa and GSA stuff)

Im of the unorganised oily umps variety usually too :-)

under the eves in the garage roof most of it seperated in plastic boxes (nicked from a garden center) i have to keep it tidy as the children use the middle section as a music room . The gti in one half of the garage has a boot full of this and that ,one spare engine sits under the sink in the other half of the garage, outside there is a pile of various bumpers and spare wheels behind the shed. Also one estate has the seats down and is full of what can only be described as crap!!
p.s my wife went to a fortune teller last night and she was able to tell her that i had numerous cars sat around and that i would probably not get around to restoring them all but it was my thing and to leave me alone and not hassle me to get rid of them! =D>

If the fortune teller gets these sort of vibes from cars then maybe she can predict the faults you will get so that you only need to store the spares you are going to need. :D
