Hmm havent planned too, theres a car on its roof and im a bit wary of sitting in there for too long as the roofs partially caved in ad the sunroof has smashed, I would try and source one on here first thats already been removed and use that as last resort!

Yep, that sounds dodgy, dont fancy sitting in a car which has another perched on top...

Got my winter tyres fitted to my 2nd set of alloys (the 6j's), bit of a tight fit, but they did go. Only drove a few miles on them, 1st impression is that they are very quiet which i hope bodes well.

Will have to wait for winter snap before being able to see how good they are. One thing is for sure, the rubber compound is super soft, no wonder winter tyres wear out quick. Hopefully get 3 winter years worth out of em.

Oh Tim, the window issue is apparently the regulator, i think i actually have a spare in the garage, so when the car is in this Friday it will get sorted, along with:

Cambelt replaced

Oil leak(s)

Front discs & pads

money money money, well what else was i going to spend it on???

I was due to pick car up today, but was phoned by garage saying that they hadnt had a chance to do the work yet as they had been busy, bummer, i may get it tomorrow though (i know, working on a sunday, i think they must be that busy).

Thanks to Ian who popped round today to inspect the Gti's suspension issue... Seems new rear arm bearings will need doing at some point (it still drives fine) & on dsf the pipework had been butchered strangely which Ian sorted out.

He also did the ctraeobics trick with a bottle of lhm with the pipes in it to get the front struts re-lubricated. Certainly seemed a lot better than it was, however replacement struts are impending.

Another strange thing was noticed, the sphere pressure seemed uneven, both opposite front & rears were either soft or harder & the front was still soft. I will post a technical thread on this point tonight.....

Got blue beast bag today, not sure which jobs havent been done as he was that busy he hadnt had chance to sort bill out, i know cambelt & new front discs & pads were sorted, but as for rest, will find out when i phone up tomorrow.

I thought it had an oil leak, couldnt be that simple could it, turns out its the hydraulic pump pissing out fluid. I will post a technical question shortly.

Will i ever get a bx that doesn have some sort of problem??? my patience is starting to wear thin, where's that can of petrol & matches.... lol...

Keep on going Mulley, theres always a rash of expense when you take on a new motor (well a secondhand one) It has probably been made worse by all of the diagnostic knowledge on this forum, you will win and soon your tZD will be as sorted as your GTI

Aye, ditto stuart. Thought I had my TGD sorted until the replacement steering rack seemed dodgy, the clutch is on its way out and all ball joints/knuckles have gone t*ts up on front N/S. Don't lose heart mate, cars of this age seems to go thro' a plethora of faults over what seems like a period of years. You'll get there

I will keep my chin up, even though i have been hemaeoraging (wrongly spelt?) cash on BX's since i got the bug. I'm sure it will all come good, its just niggly things & i want mine perfect thats all.

Noticed that the boot doesnt quite shut tight, so any bump causes the tailgate to rattle, that will get sorted as well.

That could also be a possibility.

I've actually been down your way tonight, had to dash down to Lutterworth this afternoon and on the way back the M1 was closed, so finished up doing the full tour of Derbyshire.

Why not post a list of the cars issues, then lets see who's interested, you're fairly central.

I might even get to see my BX rad. :D

I`ll be up for a bit of that day and time dependant. I don`t posses many (any?) mechanical skills but I can pass tools and help with new swear words.

Count me in mulley, as i did supply the car, with any BX dont try and fix everything at once, fix what you need to, then do the rest when u have the time and moneys! Ive had my 16v 9 months and still have a long list!
