I fixed my water leak!!!

It can piss rainwater over the carpet all it wants....this bad boy will dry it out in no time:

Carlton Dehumidifier. Suitable for anything up to a 3 bedroom house so a BX shouldn't be too much of a problem. All the condensation that was on the windows has gone and the puddle is shrinking each session it has. Its like rehab

Actually, they look like those portable aircon units, i got one this summer, absolute bleeding bliss as i was getting fed up with getting no sleep due to indian summer.

So instead of getting aircon retrofitted to BX, Can these mobile units be fitted into car????? as driving sweat box aint no fun.

Yeah....I found that out today when I tried to drive off

Luckily the 16v doesn't go anywhere these days. MOT is about to expire and theres alot of work to be done to get it through again!

Sunroof tube on the O/S is blocked. Haven't got round to sorting it yet, but its so damp inside its knackering the electrics....hence this gadget. Its bone dry now :D

£75 from Currys  They've got cheaper ones in their catalogues, but never seem to have any in the stores. So I thought balls to it, I'll just get a big one.

Can use it in the house next year when its hot and muggy.

Hair dryer!

Post by Geoffrey Gould »

What an excelent idea, I too melt into a puddle at any temperature over 60 degrees, got the same kind of thing from B & Q for £50, the local 'Stax' wholeseller of many things does a two stroke generator for something like £60 so there you go, extended exhaust to go outside and a million watt amp to drown out the T/S as I hate the things.
Cheers.

I looked in B&Q but they were more expensive, about £100. And they were much bigger, too big really.

Is everyone still talking about de-humidifiers or portable aircon units?

Reason being that they are quite seperate beasts, de-humidfier filters the air to extract moisture, which is what Kitch is using it for, it doesnt cool air.

Dont ever bother with the air cooler systems that use the evaporation system i.e. water basket over frozen elements to cool air, absolutely useless, they provide a cool breeze but dont really get the air temperature down.

Proper aircondition units will always have an extendable hose coming out of the back of them, this needs aiming out of a window to get rid of the hot air that is created by chilling the air.

I know what u mean about prices, i tried loads of B&Q stores to find one & gave up & brought one of those expensive ones £250. But its the best money i have ever spent, lobbed it in bedroom, closed all the doors to room (except open window for vent) & then switched on for 3hrs before going to bed, the difference was unbelievable. Bedroom was 21-22deg, rest of house was 30-31deg, absolutely lovely.

Its a big ol unit though, i struggled to get it upstairs in that heat, i was totally fuxxxxd, it must weigh 40+ kilos.

Anyway, this thread has totally gotten off the original, so apologies & again if i have been teaching people to suck eggs....

Air con.

Post by Geoffrey Gould »

Hi the B & Q one was their own make and was a £50 special offer, air con + dehumidifier + cooler and it does seem to work quite well. We have 3 B & Q's in Bristol but only the biggest one had any. Maybe worth keeping a check if you might need one for the summer, the chap said that they had sold 2000 of them and couldnt keep pace with the demand. Jolly good value at the money I thought.
Cheers.
