Very kind & generous folk you all are, the tzd's list of current faults are:

1). Loose tailgate, it rattles.
2). Heater blows hot & cold air fine with plenty of power, however, sometimes it doenst blow until the car picks up speed??
3). LHM Pump leaking - replacement will be on its way by next week i guess.
4). Passenger side window regulator faulty - forgot who was looking out for one.
5). Speedo faulty so wobbles & trip doesnt work - again another clubmember is looking out for a spare.
6). Diesel smell inside car? or r they all like that???

So the main one is the LHM Pump & the Heater, everything else isnt critical, although the stench is making wifey get headaches.

Shouldn't have diesel smell in car - check all your pipework, unions, filter, esp. return pipes - they can be hard to spot sometimes so check carefully. Just run your bare hand around till you touch something wet  (you know how it goes!!!!)

My estate had an awful smell of diesel mate and it turned out to be the leak off pipes (at least I think that`s what they were called) from the injectors and it was a ridiculously easy job to fix. So easy, in fact, I did it myself!

Lift the back seat up and check the security of the return pipe into the tank, you should see a black plastic circle under the back seat, just lift it out and check the pipes are on and dry.

The rest sounds straight forward enough. Thought it had a problem with the spheres? :?

If you've got a rear number plate lamp that's working but not very good you've hit the holy grail mate.

Another problem has reared its head on TZD. When putting the ignition onto the Glow Plug light part once it goes out it doesnt turn over at all. No mechanical noise at all, this is about the 3rd time it has done this?

I'm not sure if there is a solenoid style click or not, but it seems dead silent. The battery appears to be ok, any ideas on what may be causing this?

Sounds like the starter motor to me.

Mine's made a few of those 'death clicks' since its got cold. Where you get the solenoid click but nothing else.

Could quite possibly be that. Least its easy to change on a TZD. Its a right pain in the bum on the GTi.

I will try & get it diagnosed tomorrow to make sure its that fault & then i may have to try & scrounge one off someone from the forum (assuming anyone has one of course).

Shame really as the car seems to be running ok.

The LHM was low again today, so used up the remainder that i had, about 1/2 litre, so will need to buy some more again until i get the pump prob sorted.

That reminds me, i havent sorted out paying for the one i was offered, bugger, been so busy its slipped my mind.....

Does LHM come in anything larger than 1 litre bottles? i.e. to make it a bit cheaper.

Our ZX has done this for the last year and I think its the ignition switch. I disconnected the starter motor and stuck a meter on its terminals - and got a voltage reading every time for about 100 or so key operations - starter you say - but it worked perfectly for a couple of weeks which makes me think I'd dislodged some dirt while operating the switch. Sometimes it won't work at all - and if I take the key out and replace it all is fine. Its also worse on damp days.

This is a regular fault on BX's. Our Auto does this almost every time you try to start it. Has done since we got it.

I've changed the starter, made no difference. On others I've changed the ignition switch, no difference.

Let it develope. :D
