Yes, fair point. It's simple in that you just take it to your nearest Merc or BMW specialist

OK how about an early Espace? (shares some characteristics of the BX, in my mind).... or how about a late eighties Toyota? (Hang on, what about the 'stylish bit  ???)

Tricky isn't it?

Good question, they seem to be having a love affair with Mercedes now and I thought that was only one step removed from the Beemers they hate! :?
I thought the thread was about the alternatives to a BX :?:
Mercedes are a million miles from Beemers you cheeky whippersnapper, please go to the bathroom immediately and get the carbolic round your gums

Agreed a proper merc (up until the mid ninties) would be one I would happily own, but as for BMW I wouldnt give one drive space!

Like this? I think 'top-of-the-range' is pushing it, but as a model specification, not bad. This one has the later digital airconditioning by the look of it, and neat electric rear blind. Potentially a nice car. Description worries me a bit for some reason. Instinct?

Anyway, I'm quite happy with my BX at the moment!

Looks like a very nice car BUT... firstly why no pic`s of the driver`s side and also there`s not many pic`s of the bodywork full stop and the ones that are need to be closer up? and secondly the bidding pattern is dodgy. fair play it`s someone new to eBay but why keep bidding against yourself?
Giving the seller the benefit of the doubt the bidding has gone/will go stupid with the way it`s going.

billy sorry to be an anorak but if you look at the dates he didnt bid against himself as one of the other bidders had put in a high first bid but ebay started him of at the start price it was only when the new boy came along with a bid that ebay upped the initial bid!
p.s will send you a couple of pics of white bonnet tonight.

Not a BX?

Well I have a HDi Powered Xantia which is the wifes hack and tow car, it is rated at 12-1300Kgs and has proved it will actually haul more than that with ease. For me it really has to be something with self leveling suspension, preferably hydropneumatic as these make wonderful tow cars, far more stable than the sprung only cars I have towed with in the past. The Xantia is heavier and more lardy to drive than the BX, and electrical quality is questionable. But its not a bad car.

I will be repalcing the Xantia with a C5 I thinks - possibly an estste as they are rated at 1700kgs towing ability.

Replace the BX? Nahhhhhhhhh.

Just a friendly question..... why all the hatred/prejudice against Bmw?
A bit concerned as I have been a bx owner for yonks and will be for a long time yet, BUT i also own a beemer which is also fantastic imho.

Nothing against BMW's myself - just the majority of people who drive them (present company excepted of course!) - but in particulat those who aspire to own one! Especially an X5 - but even worse now - an X3!

You're absolutely right, but I can assure you i'm not the normal beemer driver {Snobbish} and third lane nutcase, if I was I doubt i'd be motoring 20k+ a year in this beloved BX of mine! Plus, my bmw is 5 years old, the best I could afford.
Its very seldom my 530 gets to exceed 60mph as the wife has it most of the time, and i'm not a speed freak either, and unlike a lot of drivers not only beemer ones, I couldn't give a t*ss who overtakes me.

That's my lot on Bmw's Merc others, the thread started off as 'life after BX' truth is i'm not thinking that far. My target is too see how much my present BX will last.

I`d certainly concur with Philip here and also state that it`s not personal towards you.
Maybe I just notice more when I get tailgated/undercut/overtaken at stupid speeds by BMW drivers more than the drivers of other makes.
I have owned a couple of Beemers in the past myself by the way.

Back o/t I`ll be driving BX`s for a while yet but one day in the future I may swap to another model of car, who knows what the future brings?

Hi Cavmad........ didn't take it personally! Thing is, I bet a lot of these beemer drivers dont have 5 breaking cars in their drive like me!!!
Volvo drivers use to {maybe still have?} the mentioned reputation, what happened to them?!

Did you get the van?

Oh yes mate. Well, I`ve paid for it, picking it up sometime this week hopefully.    Incidentally I used to abhor Volvos but have owned quite a few (one fairly recently) and despite their pretty lame reputation (or at least their driver`s reputation!) they`re fantastic cars and only the ceonomy made me sell my last one.

Philip, that`s a beauty and no mistaking.
