Another fault, well it is a citroen for goodness sake.....

I noticed that the dsr tyre was losing a stack of pressure, goes from 34 to 14 in 2 days, so have had to keep pumping the bugger up. Went to tyre fitters & they took tyre off alloy & problem located, nice big buckle, luckily i have another alloy which i will inspect to make sure its ok, so hopefully do an alloy swap this weekend & no more flat tyre..... there was a bit of corrosion anyway which i guess was also causing air loss.... anyone want a buckled wheel for scrap???

These were the one's off the 16v site, i did however get 5, so that will be the reason as one was knackered, shame i didnt spot it before getting the tyre fitted & wheel balanced. I must have been blind as its a right old ding, must have been a large pothole (Sheffield is full of em, worst roads in the world except India etc...)

If its a pothole type of damage could it not be repaired? I had a fair dent in the Xantia alloys and it cost £20 to get it pushed back out - bloke does it with a hydraulic ram...just a thought dude :D

I suppose it depends on wherabouts on the rim its damaged, on mine its on the inside edge in the middle of the rim, surely that cant be fixed, or could it be filled to balance the wheel better & to stop escaping air?

I straighten alloy components by popping some liquid soap on em then heating until the soap is just turning black and applying force in the required direction, I have taken a ding out of a motorcycle alloy rim in this way.

Changed the alloy with another, so its now sorted, the old one did keep the tyre pressure after it had been re-cleaned, but i thought it best to change anyway incase it caused abnormal tyre wear.

Had to top up the lhm as its still pissing fluid, hopefully arrange with Ken to swap the pump with another.

Noticed that the Gti had filled up with water (bloomin garage said that they had sorted out the sunroof drain holes - clearly not), so did both sides today, one was definately blocked, the other wasnt, so how come it filled the car?? Anyway, i was on a mission & did the TZD one's as well, just incase, they seemed ok.

I know from firsthand experience that you only need one of the rear drain tubes to be blocked to fill the car with water.

In my case it was the nearside rear that was blocked, and I often park with the offside wheels on the pavement outside my house, so a nice slope to the left, combined with the fact that my car's front suspension retains pressure for days, whereas the rear doesn't (i.e. the "basking shark"), meant plenty of water overflowing from the nearside drain channel into the rear footwell and under the rear seats from the gap twixt rear door frame and headlining, and from the rear of the sliding sunroof screen.

That does raise a small issue that's been bothering me for a couple of days...despite having cleared the drain tubes on the 16v, water was still getting in - easy to spot with no carpets in....I have spotted 3 leaks, 2 of which come from the rear door seals at the corner adjacent to the B Pillar....my drive is a sloped so up until now I've had the car parked nose down....I've now parked the car ar$e down and so far seems to be keeping dry!

The 3rd leak was dripping from the front passenger grab handle! What surprised me is that water is passing under the 'strip' between the gutter and the outer edge of the roof - it doesn't seem to do it on the other side or on TD...I have always assumed the strips should be sealed and prevent water passing under from the gutter....

I know the above has been a traul but without the carpets out I would never have known...it may explain why the carpets are sometimes wet in the TD despite having cleared the sunroof drain tubes...roll on the dry weather!!

Sorry to go slightly o/t here but the mention of your sloping drive leads me to another question: do you consider which way the oil pick-up pipe is mate?
I actually didn`t buy a car once because the owner had a very steep drive and I was concerned that when he started it up from cold that it may be slightly starved of oil.
Might sound daft, just one of those things that always baffled me.

I've never considered it matey - good point tho'. I tend to keep mine on the upper notch anyway - oil being quite cheap when considered how vital it is...
I did have another problem which was slope related tho'....Park it face down, and the engine would cough/splutter and get the old run away something bad! Park it ar$e down and it would be ok. It's not done it since I changed my pump tho' so I assume problem was pump related...?

Wonder if there was crap in the pump but just enough to cause the problem when parked on a slope?
If it happens again hit the car with biggest hammer you can find and thrash the t*ts off it down your nearest bypass/motorway mate*.

That`s my stock reply to technical problems I don`t know the real answer to. Which is just about all of them

If I ever have the chance to work on something german, a ford Ka or a vauxhall, I'll happily follow your repair procedure
