Probably not a huge amount and he's spent a lot of dosh getting it upto a high mechanical standard.
For example it needed a new front electro-valve as very occasionally it would drop before pumping back up again. Not a major issue to most of us.... Not for David, it was fixed.
I thought about it myself but i really need to stop buying cars for the next 12 months. Mortgages are cr4p.

If you listen very carefully O you can hear them whispering your name, beseeching you to buy one.
Could be the voices in my head I suppose, but I still think you should buy one!

XM
Hello, I havnt actually voted because it's not one or tother really, had a Mk 1 and it was a bit of a mixture really, electrics were French and not that good, bad earthing points (many) , engine bay plugs and socket dirt and corrosion like the BX, headlights were poor in both spread and brightness. Intermittant ABS took a lot of sorting. A lot of silly niggly things that shouldnt have been there.
Good points were vertually no corrosion apart from the jacking points which were weak by design and folded and split. Very comfortable and for a big lump of car went round corners surprisingly well, I think you would have to be silly to unstick it. Smooth auto box. Concidering it was a 2-1 diesel it went very well and would push you back into the seat if it was floored at 90 at which it would cruise quietly and easilly. Top speed 125 ++. About 38/41 MPG.
If the auto boxes havnt had there fluid changed regularly or the CORRECT fluid has not been used they will have a very short life. They tend to run hot and cook, Citroen did attempt to do something about it on the later ones. A proper transmission oil cooler would be the way to go.
A lot of the electrical sillys were improved on the later ones.( Not the very late ones.)
I think it would be a good idea if the BX was kept as a standby at least untill the XM was sorted as much as possible.
Get a good one and it should be nice, get one thats not been cared for and it will be a giant headache and jolly expensive.
Some parts I believe are getting difficult to source now. ABS sensors etc.
Thems my thoughts anyway.
Cheers.
Geoff.
