Alot of money but a nice clean low mileage example. I think its worth £1000 less than he wants.

Anyone else peed of with these new style `classified ads` on eBay. You can`t leave feedback for the sellers (so they`re almost untouchable) and the decription is mostly just a standard framework which only tells you about the extras and mileage and not the condition. If you bought one that turned out to be a lemon then Trading Standards won`t have much to go on if there`s no proper description.
Once again eBay flicking the V`s up at the ordinary punters (who are their best customer base too) and caving in to greed

I think recent developments with eBay are very misguided. The cornerstone of eBay's success and appeal was the feeling of being 'in a community' where trust was an element of any dealings. Without the feedback system and the new 'bidder numbering' anonimity of bidders (and sellers in the case of the 'classifieds') it becomes a totally different ball game. I wish they'd see sense and take a step back. It reeks of unecessary meddling.

I would think twice now about selling or buying on eBay...

Couldn't agree more, Philip. The hiding of bidders' identities encourages rather than suppresses fraud.

Woodlinkin Citroen is about 20 mins from me.

Do not underestimate the value of these XM's.

A good late model V6 or TD is worth 6-7k. My mate has recently sold one for 6k that needed a few bits and pieces.

This one is priced about right considering its mileage but being slightly older. I doubt it'll be for sale for long especially being a 2.5TD exclusive.

Mulley I think they made them up to about 1998, perhaps `R` and `S` suffixes but others will know better than me.

Interesting thread, as I've been looking around for an late model XM for a few months now. According to Parkers, even a X-reg V6 XM is worth £2600 and a X-reg 2.1TD is worth £3100. Those are franchised dealer prices so I would be looking at paying less at a private sale or at "Dodgy Dave's under-the-railway-arches Car Sales".

Everything after 1998/S-reg came with an auto box except the 2.0SX and the 2.5TD Exclusive, which limits the scope a bit for me as I have no interest in an auto.

Anybody paying six or seven grand for an XM, no matter how pristine or low-mileage, would want their head looked at in my personal opinion. No doubt some mug would stump up that kind of cash eventually, but it wouldn't be me...

I'm not a massive fan of auto's either butthe 2.1TD XM i had was awesome with the autobox and a much nicer car to drive than the manual I owned. The box was setup just right for the TD. superb cruiser.

I still wouldn't pay £6K for any XM though. I'd rather buy a mot failed car for peanuts and spend half that making it mint...
That said in years to come I reckon XM's will be classics like CX's are now.

Cheers

I've never seen an X reg although i believe there are something like 30 W reg XM's (according to my CitroenUK source), about 15 of which are V6's.

The V6's are the ones fetching the serious money and its not uncommon to see them being advertised for £7995 at dealers and like i said i know of people that have paid nearly that for a good late model V6 or 2.5.

A customer of mine says he knows of a 51 plate XM...I can't say either way. I've seen 2 or 3 W plated cars though..The official production end date was 2000.

I have a fair condition 2.5 TD estate nearing the end of its resto and thats had offers of £800. It's an M reg and isn't as well speced as the exclusive advertised..

£2500 is about right though..Theres a fair amount of power in those 2.5 lumps, and the hydraulic clutch is wonderful..MPG sucks a bit though..
