Pony Express

Post by artic-steel »

I'm sure this has been raised before, but on another forum i use they have a 'pony express' service.
This is basically a way of getting items, in our case parts, across the country without postage costs.
I know alot of us travel around extensively, i've been to Bristol today, Going to Leicester on Sunday, I & i am sure others would willingly transport your bits for you, & have noticed that doors needed in Dorset may appear in Scotland for instance.
Ok for urgent stuff it doesn't work, but for bulky/heavy items it's invaluable.

Im always happy to transport stuff around Lancashire, upto Cumbria (Penrith is a regular haunt) and on odd occasions down to El -Presedente's.

I'll be shunting back and forth between the South of England and south Wales for the next six months or so. I'm happy to trek stuff back and forth between there. I'm also happy to do special courier runs for people if needed, just as long as my fuel costs and a bit extra for a sarnie on the way is covered! :D

Likewise around West Cheshire if anyone`s stuck. In fact just this afternoon Liverpool`s finest son (Vanny) came up to do some jobs on my recovery truck and has left with some BX air-con parts plus a dashboard for Mr Fearn.
he didn`t leave, however, with some Xantia wheels which Stewart gave me to pass on as I couldn`t remember where I`d put them!
Stewart, if you`re reading this can you please remind me what wheels they were (i.e size) and what tyres were on them?
Cheers,
ps Vanny is a star! I now have a CD player and a CB radio fitted to the truck plus a working fag lighter-yippee!

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Im in north east Wales, not far from the A5, I get up and down the country quite a lot, often in a van so can transport larger bits by arrangement.

Just a thought, what might be easier to use in the future is that with everyone volunteering their services round the country, there is no way to remember who is where, you would have to read this subject & work your way through it a bit time consuming.

The solution would be to have a map of the UK & a numbered dot on each person's location who wants to participate in this grand scheme & a key somewhere so that you know who is who & by clicking on the person it would bring up the PM system automatically.

Oh!! by the way i wasnt volunteering to sort the map out, as i dont have any idea on how to do this on a pc...sorry....
