Thats true, but I had to squeeze it in somewhere didn't I?
Besides, some people probably dislike it, so it should work out fair.

pilot came in silver too i thought?
4TC all the way! There now getting sub delorean money, and from the back look all wrong, and clearly have an extra 12" welded to the front, but i reckon you could easy get a 24v V6 PRV engine in there and make it all Cit (rather than the Chrysler block they stole to go in it).
The 4tc really is worlds apart from the exterior and mechanicals (not only a decent 4x4 system but with macphersons in the back as well!), yet the interior is just the same as the 16v, only give away is the mid dash controls and the clocks (but i reckon you could swap them back )
Chasing one round lemans was kind of surreal!

PRV V6 should slow the 4TC down - it did everything else especially in its earlier form with different timing for each bank to try and disguise its shortcomings.
I could nominate this engine for the most cynical piece of motoring engineering of the last 35 years - and can't think of much competition at the moment.

Delorean wouldn't have gone bust if they'd used a better engine. Yanks expected a V8 - and all they got was the same V angle and 2 missing cylinders.
What's interesting is the Lotus connection. You'll remember the original Lotus Europa (with the Dino like fins at the back) had of all things a Renault 16 engine, rather than Lotus's decent DOHC engine. Tale goes that Lotus were looking at the Renault 16 transaxle arrangement, agreed that it would fit with mods (to avoid 4 reverse speeds), agreed a price when Renault said - what about our engine. How much? - £10 more was the answer.
Strangely it didn't impress the punters - and eventually acquired the Lotus engine with - true - a Citroen SM 5 speed box with the diff turned over.
Whats interesting is P Renault V engine - and Colin Chapman and Lotus as consultants for the project (basically most of it which is why the thing looks similar to the contemporary Lotus.) The Europa deal was done as Renault wanted the prestige of Lotus using their engine - is this why the Delorean used the V6?
