Capri-sorry just re-read your post. Pretty much any weekend is good with me. The weekend coming is good if you want to view the car and then make up your mind. The one after is booked, but after that any weekend is fine. I can take you for a spin in it etc, and can pick you up from a local train station if needed. Malvern Link station is probably the closest to me.
Aslo, just remembered it needs an upper speedo cable, so ill get that sorted out and fitted before collection if wanted. MPG wise, expect 25 round town, 40 at a constant 70/75, 32 on average I would say. Basically it £40 to fill the tank and you can expect about 320 miles.

Let me have a think about it mate. The thing is, I need a runaround car and as I've already said about one or two cars which have tempted me, I don't want to wreck it, as it's such a nice example. It also needs a little more work than I'd like and the MOT's not as long as I really need.
However, if I'm still stuck in a week or two and it's still not been sold, I'll re-evaluate my situation and see what's what.

Capri, if u r looking for the perfect bx, forget it, they dont really exist, even the club members cars all have minor faults that tend to get sorted out when they have the time & the funds, most faults dont stop u driving them, my Gti has been riddled with them & i have slowly whittled them away, not one has made the car break down.....
I believe the Gt would be described as an absolute minter in BX circles, so hopefully once you have seen her & taken her for a spin that will change your mind? If not if you find one without any issues whatsoever, tell the club & we will all come round & admire it.......

I think you'll find that Mk 1's are softer than Mk11's - and the more powerful - the harder they ride. This means that a 1.9D is quite soft - but the TD has GTi spec spheres on it.
The specs are available on this site I think - Home - downloads I think. All spheres are interchangeable - and struts and goemetry are the same throught the range - anti-roll bars do vary.
The general consensus is that the spheres give a harder ride on their way to failure - ie soft when new.

Yes thats right, the earlier cars are softer. However, if you fit an early, low power cars sphere to a late one, then you have soft ride, just like an early one. Thats one thing I didnt mention. The spheres I have ready to go on are actually GTi ones as I fancied a firmer more sporting ride at the time I bought them. Body, and interior wise, I will say this car is mint, its just a few mechanical issues like the oil leak and driveshaft that let it down. As soon as I get someone 100% interested in coming to see the car with the provisional view of taking it away, ill fix the oil leak (and if its not the only one then im confident its 99% of the casue of oil leaking), install new front brake pads, and give it a service for the journey home It breaks my heart to think that im selling it every time I drive it, but at the end of the day, I got it in a non roadworthy state, fixed it, had my fun with it, and even though I may really want one the same one day, I think when the time comes ill be happy to accept that its not possible and ill go after something else thats just as interesting, perhaps for different reasons, maybe a 16V if it were a BX. Id love to keep it in a barn for years, but that wouldnt do it any good.
Well, thanks to Kitch I had a look round a Mk1 GT tonight and I'm much more interested than I was before. I really love the PRN dashboard. I'm gonna have a sleep on it before I make any promises but I may well come and have a look this weekend, if no decent TZD Turbo turns up in the meantime.

I'm not looking for a BX in perfect mechanical order, but I am looking for a turbodiesel, which this is quite patently not! That being said, its comparitive rarity, excellent colour scheme and (hopefully) relatively cheap-to-run petrol engine could tempt me. I'm not making any promises yet but I do love the car!

I'm gonna duck out of the running for this one. Sorry to have got your hopes up Adamski; I'll pass though, because it looks like I've found a great turbodiesel. Admittedly I'll have to wait a month or so for it but I'm hoping it'll be worth the wait!
