Cheers for the info Stewart, Vanny is kindly sending me the covers, so i may have them end of this week (fingers crossed).
Car is looking very sad, gave her a good old wash the other day, used rain x on the windows. Came back after being away for a couple of days, & have now got a flat tyre...... cant drive her anyway until i get the cambelt covers.... i'm hoping its just air loss from the alloy wheel, will soon find out when i get around to pumping it up...

Pump'd the flat tyre with my new air compressor thingy from Halfords, only took 4mins from flat so quite impressed. Was going to check the other tyre & then it started to lash it down.
Still not fitted the cambelt covers yet, however some helpful advice in another thread may see me attempt it this weekend. Quite annoying that i havent been able to drive the car since it broke down, mini is guzzling fuel at an alarming rate....

Mulley, excuse me if I`m stating the bleeding obvious but if you can`t spot what`s causing the tyre to deflate take it to a tyre house asap. Gradual pressure loss might become major pressure loss and even if it takes a week or so to go fully flat any loss of pressure could cause handling problems.
Never a good thing, but even worse in weather conditions like we have a the moment.
If it is the seal around the rim any decent tyre company whould be able to sort it or at least make it better.
I found stripping the tyre off, putting the rim onto a wheel balancing machine and holding a wire bursh against the inner lips of the wheels usually did the trick, wearing goggles is a must of course. Then a good coating of bead sealer, over inflate the tyre and drop pressure gradually to the correct psi before testing in a tub of water and refitting to the car, though of course you`d need all the equipment to do this.
A couple of other simple tests are to inflate tyre to usual psi and spit on your finger and wipe over the valve core to see if that is the problem (will bubble if it is) also when inflate pour water over the seat of the valve and wiggle it from side-to-side. If it`s not sealed completely you`ll notice bubbles again and it`s time for a new valve immediately before you drive the car again.

Sound idea Cavmad, i will keep an eye on it & if it starts losing pressure again, then i will take it to the chaps who fitted the tyres. They sorted out the other one which went flat, no problems so far with that one.
I think i had the tyres fitted in October, so it may well be a very slow leak, but best getting it sorted anyway.....

This was the weekend that i was finally going to try & fit the cambelt covers....grrrrrr, i have been unable to do them due to the foul weather, so annoyed....
I've got the car booked in this Wed to finally get the following jobs done:
Fit temp & boost guages
Take stereo out of Gti & fit to TZD
Some extra speaker cables for my rear parcel shelf 6x9 bad boys
Will see if they can fit the covers as well as i cant see myself doing this as its pitch black when i finish work & its out in the open.
Will also get them to find out why the cigarette lighter doesnt work.
Hopefully a few less jobs on my list once the above have been done.

Got the car back yesterday, garage let me down again (i only put up with them as they are a nice bunch of lads & are cheap, otherwise it would be walkies).
Out of the list of jobs i wanted doing, the only thing they did was fit the cambelt covers. Turns out that the covers were the wrong one's?? but they said they managed to alter them to fit correctly, so all is well. I can now drive the car, gawd it feels alien after driving the mini, but getting used to the lack of performance.....
Oh, forgot they fitted the stereo, however it doesnt tune into any radio stations, so thats another job for them to investigate...... hopefully its something daft like not being connected to the aerial....
Got her booked in for next Tuesday to get the rest of the work finished....

Put some new door speakers into the TZD, Pioneer babies, so new sounds will be good.
Did some work on Gti today, cleaned the drain tubes again & managed to get some more crap out of them, think i spotted why its flooded the car again. One of the tubes was sitting in water, not quite sure why the water hasnt drained away as the other side the water just pee's out under the bumper, the other one appears to pee out over the bumper. So i reckon that once it fills up & the pipe is submerged in the water then there isnt enough water pressure so the tube fills up & then the roof tray as well, hence flood city. Solution, i cut the tube so that there is no way it can get submerged, lets hope that solves it.
Managed to work out how to fit the rear seat side bolsters to the Gti, so changed them so the car interior is now complete for hopefully the new owner. I'm getting good at this car diy stuff.....
Checked the oil & lhm levles in both cars, both ok. Swapped the rear parcel shelves around, so that the one's with my bad boy 6x9's are now residing in the tzd, just need them wiring up & i will be able to join the other mop heads pumping bass, but in a far cooler car of course....
Fitted the rear headrests to the tzd, looks very smart now..... pump'd up the tzd & Gti tyre pressures with my new air compressor toy, now why didnt i buy one of these years ago....doh!!!
All this work meant that it took me hours cos i'm rubbish, benefits were lots of fresh air & for once there was sunshine & even better i got out of going to a cruddy kiddies birthday party.....
My new tools certainly came in handy today, without them i would have been a bit bugxxxd.....
