Hi Folks,

Gosh, surely this will be an ideal opportunity to pick the biggest dry one.

Find a place to park it, then fill it up with all the BX spare parts...

thats not a bad idea Brian (havent forgotten your skirts, exams) theres a 42" artic trailer onsite which is expty with side doors, side steps and roller back, and 4 commercials trailers so plenty of room. Only problem is there is no sort of secured future for anyhting there, could conceivably just finish filling one of them and find the site gets sold!

Actual farming equiptment might be for sale in the summer in a famr auction, but there is no fixed plans for when the farm auction will be (hoping it will be two years or so allowing me to get some farming experience AND projects built).

The story is that the farm owner died last semptember in a bit of a nasty accident at his other work. This left his wife with the farm site, which included a large caravan storage pen, Ian didn't tend to keep himself uptodate with the clients of the storage area so there where a lot of vans that people had fogotten about and no longer wanted, some that people didn't have space for or want to pay the yearly rental costs of £100!!! and some people had abandoned there ideals of caravaning many years earlier and Ian had bought them for tuppence to resell/scrap for alluminium. 2 of the vans we didnt even know where there until we where cutting through a hedge to get to a commercial back, then found a Triumph 200 then when we climbed onto the landy to see what else was there we found these two vans in the middle of this HUGE bramble patch. It took an entire day to cut them out with the landy and took the big tractor to drag the shells out!

Hence, theres a huge age range, and a huge quality difference!

I'll get a better list, didnt expect quite so much interest!!

(if any one is interested in a 42' commercial trailer, your welcome to enquire!!)

57 would make a fine garage for a BX and isn't 20 a Welton which was a very upmarket van indeed?

Hmm. Are any of them in a state that they could be used straight away? Are we talking free or cheap here, if they're going to scrap?

i've got to make a wage from them, so free isnt probable, but i also cant be arsed to pull that many apart so will be happy to take 2days wage in return (and thats 2 man, 2 days, and we work VERY cheap, rarely seeing £20 a day).

Like i said i wasn't expecting such an uptake so im there at the weekend and will get better pictures and have them better organised!

Tom, 20 is known as the passion wagon and comes with a whole tale of its own (couple of divorcee's owned it (not divorced from each other)) and while its structurally sound has an alarm and many bottles of very old rum, the hitch has had it (though chasis aint too bad!)

Hmm OK mate, so that sort of figure would get me one of the good'uns?

Whereabouts are these beauties located?

I've never even considered buying a 'van before but it's so cheap, and it'd be a good laugh to disappear down to Cornwall for a weekend now and then! :D

I've just had a look at the pics: that's a bloody treasure-trove!! (Depending on how you look at it...)

I don't the hell know why, but I'm interested even though I've got nowhere to store one. My friend Chris has at least one old car with a towbar (maybe the Renault 18...) - and he really wants a Maxi, and what would look perfect hitched up behind one of those?? (Think Carry on Camping!!)

I noticed some of the vans have crosses taped on the window - does that mean they are "condemned"? How long roughly have you got time-wise before they've all got to be "gone"?

Mark.

tape is in reference to defining those that are for disposal and those which are still owned by paying tenants, all the 'to be scrapped' vans have now been moved round the back, hence once i get chance to get more piccies then they should make much more sence ,however at the moment they are parked VERY close together with less than 6 inches gap in places (im that good at reversing!!)

i wouldn't call them a treasure trove, i'd call them a pain in the ass!

time wise, well if i know which ones to keep then at least till the summer! cant move some of the farm machines until them because the land is sooooo boggy!
