Saturday`s mini meet. Pic`s and description!

Post by cavmad »

Thanks to the kindness of Vanny and Doc it seems my newly acquired TZD estate is going to be a lot more fun to drive soon.
The engine turned out to be smoking it`s arse off and starting up in the cold has been a nightmare. Couple to that the slipping clutch and things werent looking good.
HOWEVER....I have a tasty 1.9TD engine here still fitted to the TZD hatch I bought from eBay a while ago. Been sat in my garage pretty much ever since and though a sale was sort of planned for it it`s saved my bacon and hopefully will lead to (my) ultimate BX, namely a 1.9TD estate.
Anyhow the two top dudes mentioned above very kindly came up Saturday to get the ball rolling. I bought an engine crane from Machine Mart and a plan was formulated.
First job was to get the motor out of the hatch and see how the time went as regards to swapping it with the estate one. Time was against us (not helped by spending most of the time abusing Vanny instead of actually doing anything) so we `(they) have one engine out ready to roll.
Rather crap pictures taken by me but hopefully Vanny has others.
First off is our scouse mate, err, mating the engine with Doc looking on...

And secondly is the BX line up. All three are mine (starting from nearest first: GTi, TZD estate and TZD (1.9) hatchback...

More news as it`s happened, many thanks once again to Vanny and Doc.

Billy - Three questions:

1. Did you say you were breaking the TZD?

2. If so, are those alloys I spy on it?

3. If so, are they for sale?

No fear Billy, as soon as Vanny and myself kiss and make up I'll be back to install the motor in the estate... and, er, take some pi$$!

Cheers

1. Yes.

2. No, steels and trims I`m afraid.

3. `fraid not Capri. The aftermarket alloys are currently looking cool on my estate (centre car in picture).

Doc, cheers for that. Just waiting for the Vanster to come along and post up the pic`s he took now.

 That's cool mate. Just rather liked the look of the "alloys" on the TZD hatch - shame they're not!

They look like 306 XSi trims. That'd be the second time you've fluffed up on those Alex

A good day tinkering with cars. Estates looking good :)

Thanks, hopefully it`ll be going good soon too. Currently emits a smoke screen of Red Devil`s proportions. Still, at least I can`t see the people behind me pointing and laughing
