GT accident
Thanks for the bonnet repair tips Jeremy. I may be giving all that a try.
Cauchoiskev: The Police only arrived as the other driver made a fuss about not beleiving that I was genuine or something and that last time it happened they couldnt clain insurance or whatever. I didnt get any pics although im going to photo the broken streetlamp later, as it was the only one not working and was directly over the scene of the accident.
Oscar. Thanks for the advice about recording dates, times, and and communication. I will do that and make a file as suggested. Im pretty sure I wasnt totally to blame for this, have been driving 5 years without any other crash into another car (OK I hit a 10 KG rock once), and the other car hesitated etc. In other words he was totally still waiting to turn right even though there was nothing coming the other way. etc.

Re: GT accident
Sorry to hear about misfortune but better the BX is damaged than you.adamskibx wrote:Im usually very good on observation, and can only think that it was a combination of late indicating of car in front coupled with me adjusting the heater or radio or something for a split second, plus icy roads.
Don't say anything about adjusting the radio though, as they have just announced new measures and a crack down where accidents occur as a result of this.

sorry to hear about this Adam,
anything i can do just ask, as others have said could have been worse and at least the car is fixable.

Have a Mk2 bonnet and headlight here if wanted mate. As regards him suggesting you`ve f*ck*d his engine any insurance company in the world (even one as shit as Direct Line) would just laugh at him for saying that.
Mundano bumpers probably are £150 from Ford but from anywhere else they`re probably about £70 brand new. This tosser is obviously trying it on and he`ll most likely have his car written off ot get a bum quote from one of his dodgy mates then buy some parts from a scrappy and have it fixed up for about 71p.
Easy to say but I wouldn`t let the cost of the repairs worry you: if your insurance are paying for it it`ll effect your premiums next time whether he claims for £20 or £2000. I know it`s wrong and he`s trying it on but not much you can do I`m afraid.

Thanks Matt and Billy. I may very well be interested in that bonnet billy. Ill see how I get on at the weekend and let you know. Im sure I could fit a BX bonnet in the C2 company car, somehow!
Ive just handed my statement of events to the police as requested by them. Now ive just got to hand in insurance, MOT and license and ill see where it goes from there.

Yeah, but this was a really low speed knock Jeremy, it's not like adam hit this turd at 100mph, there is no fu*kin' way in hell a shunt at 10mph is going to knock an engine off it's mounts.
This guy is trying it on, and requires a coal shovel being rammed up his rectum....
Cheers

Not only that, but even if the engine mounts had failed, and it had hit the rad (unlikely as that is), it wouldn't really affect the sound the engine was making.docchevron1472 wrote:Yeah, but this was a really low speed knock Jeremy, it's not like adam hit this turd at 100mph, there is no fu*kin' way in hell a shunt at 10mph is going to knock an engine off it's mounts.

I ran into the back of someone last year whilst faffing about doing my hair or summat (yes I know tart) at about 5pm in my Bug, the damage was minimal, slight scuff on the bumper and a cracked number plate of my car which cost £10 to fix, however the Fiesta I had a wonky bumper.
As I worked in a garage I asked him to come down and let us look at so we could get it fixed quickly and easily, which we did however in between the accident and coming to see me had spoken to his "mate" who’s a mechanic (yes we all have those) and now apparently I had bent the boot floor and done all manner of major damage running into him at 5mph. The car had had a major accident earlier in its life which had been badly repaired and he was trying to lay blame for that at me.
So we turned it over to the hands of the insurers, bearing in mind the car I hit was £500 worth of N reg Fiesta and they would write it off, I told this to the owner but he didnt beleive me.
It dragged on for a few weeks in which time his insurance agents legal assistance people called me asking for my account of the matter, when they told me that their client was claiming for a whole new backend in cluding exhaust, lights etc I was stunned. Fortunatly I had taken pictures of the accident shwoing the minimal damage to both cars, which I forwarded on to them and tsaid they were been deceived thats I heard, the guy still drives the car with a wonky bumper.
Adam, ring your insurers and if needs be if you havent already get intocuh with the police.

I didn't know that!! Isn't the Mundano a transverse engine tho'? Rekon he's full of sh1t this bloke (not you Jeremy!!) There are so many dishonest scamming b@stards...as Billy says, wether he claims £20 or £2000 makes no odds...thats the insurance companies problem...keep us posted mate and good luckjeremy wrote:Used to be quite a problem with some in line engined car where the engine would jump off its mounts and chew up the rad in an accident. I'd have thought being front wheel drive the Mundano engine was better anchored.

If it got run into from behind and hit the exhaust, all it would do it crack the downpipe or somewhere similar.
That would account for a nasty noise coming from the engine.
Its so unlikely you did it though, sounds like he's a right monkton fish
