White alloys

Post by toddao »

Come across a set of BX white alloys on some sort of special edition white BX that has been stripped. Anyone seen these or know what edition?
The guy wants €150 for the four complete with a good set of summer tyres. That's the way here : one set for winter ( what winter?) and one set for summer. Is that a deal? Can I slap them on the old estate and keep it real?

Yes all BX wheels are the same fitment. (16V wheels are a bit wider)

Alloys require different fitting bolts though.

Have you a picture of the wheels?

I have never seen white alloys on a bx before. Would look good on a red car, 1980s retro cool?.

E150 is OK only if the tyres and wheels are in good very condition.

If the tyres are worn and the wheels tatty, then it is far too much IMO.

I haven't any pictures as yet. The condition is not perfect - two have been out in the elements, two indoors. I reckon they would clean up alright. The tyres have plenty of life in them.
Thing is that I spotted these wheels on the car in a yard and asked the gaffer and he said yes but subsequently he's had another offer for the said price but gave me first refusal. Whether this salesmanship or not I don't know.
I need summer tyres whichever way. Will try to find out which model when I return next week. Maybe it was a German only edition of which there were some?

Looks good. Are they Citroen wheels ?

Found out that the car in the breakers with the white alloys is a BX 'Tecnic' model and was a Germany only edition. Can't find any pictures of the original so hard to say whether the wheels are original or after market

What do you reckon 16v alloys would look like in white, on a red car???

(It is already the ultimate style icon, being a TZD turbo, according to Tom...)

Yeah they were C2 GT alloys. They're long gone now.

And std BX alloys in white would look thoroughly awful IMHO

If I was going to put white alloys on I'd imitate the WRC rally spec OZ ones - like this:
