This is why certain people should not be allowed to use disc-cutting equipment.
That is, without doubt, one of the worst convertible conversions I have ever seen.
I like convertible cars, and have often thought that the BX could look quite good as a convertible, but that is just horrendous.

It doesn't drive and was just done for a laugh. Its a semi proper convertable though, it has a roof! The originalroof with the tail gate which sits back on top of it so it can be moved on the back of a lorry, it was done to make a show piece at acar show a few years ago though i don't know if its still in existance.

Convertibles are fine as 2 seater sports cars - where you sit low and inside the thing and the rear deck starts close behind the front seats - make a 4 seater convertible and the turbulence increases and makes the thing rather unpleasant when going over about 40.
4 seaters are great for posing if that's your scene - look at the Bentley Carnage or whatever its called - could you ever drive one of them as a serious car? Still I suppose it keeps the mileage down.

I do as well Vanny. Remember the one in the `showroom` at Crewe we passed the other week?
Stunning cars, especially the coupe. Only thing that would bother me now is the company that own them, but I still think of Rolls and Bentley as British quality products. It`s just a shame they have a V*lksw*g*n/Audi engine in them, would rather see a proper British motor.
Still, at least they are made in this country and not exported from somewhere else.

I've been driven in a Shadow - and wished I'd taken my Jaguar as the thing seemed to suffer from wheel ricochet problems like an American car and was extremely clumsy on twisty roads - and also had a ride in a Spirit and came to much the same decision. Similarly unimpressed by a number of large Mercedes and BMW's.
Nice to look at but that's it in my opinion.

That is horrible. I cant work out how you could make a decent looking one either, but then im no car designer, but thats just a waste of a good BX.
I have recently had a ride in a 1984 RR Silver spirit or whatever its called, and it was very very Citroenesque in its level ride, although a bit worse at lower speeds. I then found out its got a RR built version of Citroen Hydraulic suspension and takes LHM.They bought the rights off Citroen. Silly thing is though its 6.7 litres, goes slower than my BX, and is only slightly more comfortable. In fact if I was the owner, I would find it less comfortable due to mental discomfort. 9MPG! And its not a purposeful aerodynamic shape like a Citroen. Also ridden in a Jaguar S-Type. Very smooth in a way, but the anti roll bars are overly stiff and they casue the whole thing to pitch more than respond to bumps, which is not very nice on a motorway. Also noticed the steering needed more correction than a BX, and the car is too low for suspension that soft. In a hydraulic citroen you notice bumps, because they are few and far between. In a lot of these big heavy executive cars, this effect is greater still, but you also notice other odd things about the ride. In a Hydraulic Cit, the frequency of shocks coming from the road and consistant suspension makes you forget about the ride all together which is the sign of a good riding car.
