bx gti clean and inspection (after a 2 year lay up)

Post by rob-bx16v »

:D Hi All,

some of you may remember that i had a blue bx gti 8v that i layed up for 2 years. Well its now home with us and has been mot,d (needed nothing :D ) taxed and insured by myself and has been in use for 3 weeks now. Today i took the oppotunity to give it a through clean meaning, sills, outside and underbonet, its also had 2 coats of meguires today as well and i have to say its come up mint and theres still no rot anywhere on the car as it was preped and underseald before being layed up. ( ian fern will be happy to know the car is now in daily use after enquiring what i was doing with it last year.

The only things left to do are to get the valve steam oil seals done and a new clutch fitted oh and the air con sorted and thats it...... good for a 17 year old car. well put it this way im well pleased with the result 8)

I used to use autoglym srp but ive now switched to meguires as its easier to apply and has great results whatever colour your car.

Wow Rob, could you get anymore stickers in the rear window of your valver??!!

Both look fantastic though, any time you wana polish mine......

You are of course aware that the GTi has the incorrect N/S rear light unit?? It's smoke tint, and should be blue tint, the same as the O/S unit....
Ok, I know, I'm being painfully anal... I'll shut the f*ck up now.

Great looking car mate.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

yep i seem to have different tint lights on both cars. Have known about it for a while but have yet to do somthing about it lol. I think it was you doc who mentiond it a while ago!. Polishing is somthing i cant normaly be bothered with but when you realise just how good nick both cars are actualy in is seems a shame to let them both go down hill. Polishing technique was learned off timmo (cornish bx 16v) and does the trick although the pics are a bit crap. the car is more red than on the photos (its not pinky red as shown  )

Ahhhh, that GTI is Smashing!!!!!!!

It's the same colour as my Australian GTI. The body's even nicer than mine too. Congratulations on such a wonderfully great car!

I hope that it will continue to get the attention that it appears to have had into the future.
