What a beauty. If I was still living over there I'd bite his arm off for that.

in good condition with low mileage.

Original engine, very well-maintained car having been owned by my grandfather who has always looked after it very well.

She's always been parked in a garage out of the weather.

The car is MoT'd. There were some advisories:

* handbrake badly adjusted.
* Cremaillière, boîtier de direction : défaut d'étanchéité, AV. (don't understand this bit!)
* Left-hand lamp on rear number plate not working
* Hatchback hinge mounts in poor condition

These points were all repaired after the MoT

Does it mean something about the steering rack pinion/ram seals?

Mark.

"étanchéité" is a blockage or restriction of flow (in the power steering?). Seller says he fixed all the CT advisories. Anyone in the Auvergne?
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Nope, it means "tightness", in this case a leak from the rack.

Be interesting to see what this goes for. Six days to go and got seven bids already. There must be some right BX heads in France. Any guesses?

My experience was that the second-hand car market is muuuuch stronger in France than it is here. I mean, here you can get an unfashionable-but-MoT'd 15-25 year old car for the price of a pint, but in France anything that goes and is road-legal will hold its value.

That car will go for waaaaaay higher than it would over here.
