Post by Jayboy »

Hi guys

Had an email last night through the CCC re the below for sale so put it straight on here!

The chaps name is Adam and he wrote this:

'I have put it so far in autotrader on the web site (Bargain cars under
£1000 / Citroen BX columns) so it is easily viewed, but whether the
right type of buyer is looking, I cannot guess! There are 9 pics in
total, and I am happy to give a very accurate assessment of it's
current status and health!

If you can help in any way I would be very grateful, and if you want
any more info please come back to me (01202 827771 and 07940 878592)

Sounds like a cheap car there. Last one I sold, all be it with fewer miles on it was £1k and sold to the first person who enquired, so this sounds good!

Silver P2 16v - now breaking due to cam belt failure.

Post by Jayboy »

Unfortunately I recently received this email as the cam belt broke:

I'm naturally very sorry and sad about it, but now wish to break it and
have it used by the 16valve fraternity. Do you think you could help me
again? I need to say it's now not running, and will either be open to
offers on skirts, seats or whatever, (plus CCC mags and a few
accessories), or as a job lot and towed away.

Any interested parties will have to come and extract any components
themselves in a quiet area well away from the main road (Verwood, nr
Bournemouth – BH31 6UH), remembering that is very low on the road (the
hydraulics being non-functional), and there is no pit or ramps
available. I will offer to help if required, but am not a mechanic – I
can be available almost any time.

ANY INTERESTED PARTIES??

Some people just throw the towel in too easily.

Come on Tim.

Stick your engine in this one, save all that welding. :D

Tims engine has 130k miles on it I believe, surely it would be easier to rebuild the lump thats in it. It aint hard to whip the head off, give it a top end overhaul and throw it back together.....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I've been talking to the owner and he has 2 interested in buying complete and doing the work and using it again, and 2 who want to break it up, so he's just waiting to hear if one of these 2 buyers want to buy it complete before he decides to let it get broken, after al he'll be left with a shell and some U/S parts that he'll have to have towed away.

Blimey the guy emailed me 2 weeks ago telling me about the cambelt and the car ha sbeen in th emembers area over at BX16valve.co, for ages.

Agree it would be nice to se eit saved though and a snapped cambelt is not that big a deal unless you are really unlucky.

Cheers

He wanted seven hundred quid but maintained it badly enough to let the cambelt go?

<bangs head on desk>

This car was never going to be allowed to live.

To be fair, he could have paid someone to change that cambelt 10k miles previously, but they either bumped him or did it wrong. He might not have been to know, and £700 for a tidy valver is good money.
