I was speaking to him last week. He has not retired - he has just given up running BXs as his personal transport (he now has a C5). He is still quite happy to look at Citroen BXs for customers. My experience of his work is that he is meticulous. The only fault I can find with him is that he lives in Lincoln. Lovely spot if you like cathedrals. But many people have happy fulfilled and adventurous lives without ever getting within 75 miles of the place. My apologies if you live in Spalding.

We live quite close then! My 4x4 is not a red estate it is a black hatchback. You're welcome to come and have a look at it any day.

PS I think the diff lock switch is very badly placed on the 4x4. Bearing in mind you are not supposed to engage it over 3mph or use it beyond 12mph, I was terrified that I or a passenger might inadvertently press it in mistake for a rear window winder. So I've left it in place but disconnected the wires from the switch. Pushing them back into the switch takes less than a minute. I'm happier that way.
