Try contacting someone on the 16v forum, i think stewart has them fitted to his beast so he would deffo know whats involved. I cant imagine its that simple, but who knows???
Hello all. The only difference between calipers is the actual frame part that is held on by 5 (Yes.) sided bolts. Cant remember the correct name. the sockets to undo these are readily available from motor accessory shops.
The frames are wider for the 16V etc. to allow for the extra thickness of the ventilated discs. They all use the same thickness pads. It does make a difference to the braking.
Cheers.
Geoff.
If you look on Euro Car Parts website, the 16v calipers are actually cheaper than the standard ones! (Nearside by about £20)
I fitted them about a year or so back and they are a worthwhile upgrade, espcially if your existing calipers are getting sticky. I can't be certain whether they will fit under standard wheels although I would imagine they would.
i've been told that they nedd to go on behind alloys, and indedd the only cars i've seen them fitted too (non 16v's of course) have all had standard or after market alloys. Otherwise they are a straight swap.
I've put them on my TZD as well - straight swap over from the 16V parts car. I used the original steel wheels for awhile with them until I got some new tyres on the 16V alloys, and then installed those on the TZD. So simple answer is they fit with no problem, are easy to install (along with the vented discs) and will fit under either steel or alloy wheels.
