Wanted: BX without a sunroof.

Post by DavidRutherford »

As much as I like the BX, I don't fit in one that has a factory-fit sunroof... which is most of them.

Consequently, I'm on the lookout for one that does not have a sunroof fitted. I know all estates don't have a sunroof, but I'd prefer a saloon. Needs to be diesel, and ideally a higher-spec car.

Anyone got one? I'd be interested in a swap (with cash either way as necessary) for the DTR turbo I'm currently bombing about in. Great car, just not enough headroom.

What I'd love is one with no sunroof, but with A/C fitted... yes yes, I know.. Pigs might fly. Got to be worth an ask though.

I think you'll have to import one - I'm sure I've seen pictures of French 16 valves without one but don't think I've ever seen a British one.

I've seen a few british BX's without sunroof's, but they have all been poverty spec models, I think really you'd need to get a Leader or the such and use the shell to build the car you want really mate..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I had a feeling that would probably be the answer.

Anyone got a (turbo?) diesel estate they'd like to swap for a 1989 DTR turbo saloon?

Dont have any estates in stock at the mo mate, but if one turns up in good nick I'll let you know.

Although I still reckon getting a non sunroof car, stripping it out and building the car you want around it would be fun...

Going off topic a bit here but, maybe you could modify the drivers seat so it sat lower in the car and hence, so would you?? I'm guessing the sunroof knocks about 2-3" off the headroom?? So you wouldn't need to lower the seat much....

Another advantage to non sunshine roof ones is the lack of rust you get on these bodyshells....

This rust free diesel body at 18 years old is a case in point.

Not sure how much they cost here, fuel is cheap but just had a nasty surprise at the supermarket, Engine oil is 47 leva, 2.8 = 1 GBP.

I have a BX14 without a sunroof for sale. It's not a diesel but it's super nippy and not far off diesel economy.
I'm 6'3'' and fit it perfectly even with its uprated TZD seats.
Cheaper to insure than a diesel as well.
Just a thought.

It is the blue car. Details under 'Olympic blue BX14TGE for sale !PRICE CUT!'

It is a great car and the fuel economy is much better than you'd think, but then it's a very light car, lighter than a 205 apparently, so not much weight to lug around.
It's in SW London so getting to Dorset would be nice and easy.

My 16TGS has no power steering and is surprisingly easy to drive so I would imagine that to e much the same.
