It took 5 hours of machine polishing and waxing to get that result (all my own work too), which even the guys at work were surprised how well it came up. What it does show is that the cars had paint in the past (as you would expect in 246000 miles) so its a few different shades and needs tidying in areas. The interior was also shampood and came up sparking.
Blimey, Tim. That looks good. I notice it's a long bonnet and mine's short. What determined which bonnet which model got? And you've got the GTi spoiler.... Both will look nice together at the 'gathering'...

From memory most autos had the shorter nose? I know the 16TRS did as did my 19TGD auto. the Gti rear spoiler has been added by its previous owner and was painted by a spray can and the paint is poor and starting to crack, I would remove it but that will leave 4 holes to be filled and painted which isnt my forte!
Arctic steel has a perfect boot lid which he may be saving so I may swap that over but as neither of us have changed one before it looks a pain!
Yes indeed, however my TGS is definatly a 20 footer as we call it, when you get close its not so mint, BUT mechanically its excellent and the interior also very good. I hope to get the bits of tatty paint improved by the national but my budget wont allot repaint both ns doors which are scratched and dented.

It's easy to change a hatch, all you need is a 10mm spanner, a panel popper, a small screwdriver or such to lever the reatining clips off the hinges and someone to hold the hatch while you fit it, cos like, they are quite heavy...
