How much is a BX worth ?

Post by jrdpod »

I've seen a BX 16 TRS H reg for sale at the roadside for £225.

It is all there, with MOT to 11/07, VED to 8/07 and 110K on the clock.

Condition is clean, with only the paint needing a t-cut. Colour is red.

Do fellow BXers think £225 is a reasonable asking price? Or should it be less ?

Thanks for any feedback.

If it's in good condition in general, then yeah, I'd have said £225 is ok, although it would be better with a 12 month MOT..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

£225 sounds ok, but there should be room for a bit of haggling. I bought my first Meteor off the side of the road. The advert in the window said £300, but I knocked him down to £200 cash and said we could go to the nearest cashpoint straight away.

The second Meteor, with a lot lower mileage, was £100 buy-it-now on the Bay! Both cars had decent amounts of MOT and tax, and the second one came with FSH :)

If its a H plate it will be a TZS but sounds ok at £225, if its tidy.

I don't follow that!

Why would a car badged as a 1.6 Petrol be a 1.7 Turbodiesel? :?:

Well, they did make non turbo TZD's, but your point is a good one!

Could it be Tim's crown is slipping!

Has to be TGS, TXS or TZS then. I've never seen a TZS!

I'd say try to get it for £200. Sounds OK to me...

Here's my price guide suggestion:

TRS with TRS badges £150.
TZD with TRS badges £175.
TRS with TZD badges £125.
TRS with TZD badges and Halfords wheeltrims £1.79.
TZD with TRS badges and TGE wheeltrims £1,250 (trims are rare, only made 171.2 of them).
TZD with TRS badges and genuine Citroen alloy wheels: £6,794

For all the above: prices fluctuate minus or plus 300% if has (or hasn't) original owner's handbook, correct radio flap colour and whether previous owner replaced with a Xantia.

On a slightly more serious note I'd check very carefully for any future MOT failure points. Usual things like inner wings, exhaust hangar, door hinge areas, door bottoms, signs of smoking on start up or when booted hard, plus brakes, handbrake etc. All this on top of the usual checks for interior heater working etc.

Nope I pressed the wrong key, I mean it would be a 16TZS sorry. I know they definatly make them as I had one for a year.
