Non BX and way off base....

Post by PiLsY. »

Hope its ok to advertise this here before it goes on the 'bay of doom? May be useful to someone and price will be lower on here than the 'bay...

Viglen Pentium 4 base unit (computer only, no monitor, keyboard and mouse), brand new insurance replacement and unused. I've switched it on, installed windows XP Pro, Office 2003 Pro, Symantex Antivirus Corporate edition (no monthly / yearly fees) and that's it. Can add extra software if needed (nero etc, just ask). All software legal.

Note - this is NOT a gaming PC due to onboard graphics. A graphics card can be added if you want to use it for games. Ask for more info.

Details below:

Viglen Pentium 4 3ghz
1gb memory
80gb hard disk (can fit larger for no extra cost - Im sure I have anything up to a 160gb, but this may void the warranty with Viglen)
DVD - RW / CD RW drive
Front USB ports and front sound ports
More USB ports on the back, plus 7.1ch surround ports
Has a full 1 year back to base warranty with Viglen that is for the computer, NOT the person.

Price: £65 plus postage for a quick sale. Insurance value of £250. Can of Fizzy Piss negotiable extra.

Shouldn't be too much stuart, I'd guess between £10 and £20. Whereabouts are you and i'll get it checked out. Will probably need your postcode...

Hi Pilsy, would this be suitable for a broadband internet connection?
They think it's all over, it is now!

Yep, its fine for internet use. There's no modem built in (does anyone use those anymore?), if you want wireless I can provide a USB wireless card for a modest cost, but if you have a broadband router it'll connect directly via ethernet cable as is.

Stuart has provisionally bought it, he's going to let me know tomorrow. If he decides not to though I'll pm you both and let you fight it out :).

I do build computers anyway - may be able to accomodate even if this one is sold. Cross that bridge when we get to it though :).

Managed to find a courier to anywhere in England next day for roughly £10.

OK cool, thanks mate - tbh I'm sure I don't need another machine  but if it's up for grabs let me know.

Excellent price though, Stuart should buy it! :)

Weird...Just pm'd you off this thread, refreshed and you'd posted .

Its now sold to stuart, but if anyone wants or needs computers or parts let me know. I could give Doc's barn a run for its money for spares and base units . I've been told by the missus it needs clearing out as she doesn't want to move into steptoe and son's!

"Discerning", "no risk" and "free sites" can go together in the same sentence?

I remember when I first discovered the internet about 15 years ago. 30 minutes later I discovered internet porn. 30 minutes after that I discovered explaining why my mums work computer that she'd just spent £3k on didn't work anymore. By didnt work I mean dialled up to america as soon as you turned it on, filled the desktop with all sorts of blatant porn site links and filled the screen with (if memory serves) "animal planet.com" pop-ups. And i'm not talking documentaries either... I got owned round the house with a saucepan and grounded for a month .
