Creaking back end, and the wheels leaning in, pretty much exactley the same as a BX,except it is an absolute total BA%T&RD to do the bearings on those beam axles, and more often than not, the only option is to replace the whole axle.Philip chidlow wrote: What are the signs?

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Had a thorough assessment made of the ZX yesterday. It hasn't got any worrying or potential issues we can find. There's a slight question mark over the PAS - but we think it was air in the system/not enough fluid in there. The noise that was there has gone and the car performs faultlessly.
AND IT PASSED IT'S MOT TODAY - no advisories either.
So I have come to the difficult decision - the BX is going to be sold on. Would any interested parties PM me. It'll go on eBay tonight in all likelihood.
I'll run the ZX until Spring next year when I'll look for another car... could even be a TZD!

aye, and by next year, assuming you dont drive any BX's in the interim, by the time you come to drive one again, you'll remember why they are such a good car.
A change is as good as a rest and all that.

Yep, a change... Thing is, the TGS is so good I know it'll not be fair to run it as an everyday car - especially over the winter - park it on the road and generally see what value it does have evaporate like no other BX I've owned.
I would, as another erstwhile member has indicated he would, be happy to acquire a late BX TZD/TXD Turbo in good condition, low-ish miles FSH and air con etc... but will have to wait a long time - if I ever find one. And I'd be willing to fork out!
No, the ZX will suffice for the time being, saving over well over £300 in 6 months in fuel costs alone. And the ZX only owes me about £87.50.

Completely agree (in a nice way) Phil. People who want cheap autos to use and abuse then throw away are going to be looking at tired out old Fiestas and the like. Your's is a bit of a specialist job and likely to attract only a Citroen enthusiast which is no bad thing.

I wouldn't worry about that Philip, most people won't be at all bothered. Let me know how you get on with the 'submit best offer' thing please, always fancied doing that with one of my eBay specials but assumed I'd be plagued by penniless morons making stupid offers.
Good luck with the sale, stunning car and an excellent eBay listing too.
