Engine stand or crane.

Post by Jaba »

Has anyone got an engine stand or crane that I can borrow. I am in the process of doing an engine transplant on one of my TDs.

I am reluctant to buy one for this one off job so if anyone can help - great.

Geographically from my base in Oxford I can pickup from, say, a 150 mile radius.

Might be cheaper to hire one for the weekend if no-one close by has one handy? I use a forklift truck these days! You're welcome to borrow that, but it does 15mph tops, and has naff all suspension!

Oh, I haven't forgotten your trim mate, the road to the farm is now re-open so I'll pop one in the post asap for ya.

Yes I could hire but I will probably take a week or two to do this work so hiring would be too many ££££s.

Thanks for the JCB offer but it wont go into my garage !

Billys crane is currently at our house!
Tomorrow it will be in use whilst shoving a gearbox back into Monica!!!!

Should only be needed until weekend, then I'll be dropping it back in at Billys probably during next week!

Still a bloody long way from Oxford mate, when you only came up last week anyway!!!

Thanks guys. Yes, almost anywhere seems to be a long way from Oxford. But anything north of Brum is really a bit too far.

So ANYONE ??

Jaba, assuming I have a car which it will fit into then could always meet up somewhere to lend you the crane if wanted?

god i remember the days of a cahin block and a rafter in the roof, then again the parents garage is built rather well :D

i can also get chain blocks twice a year for £5 each from a local friendly industrial engineering place, they are only allowed to kee them for like 4 years then they have to be disposed of, usually weighed in, so you might want to ask around if you have something to hang off, much cheaper than an engine crane!
