Why do people say that?

It is the same 1.9 (160bhp) alloy engine which is fitted to the 405 Mi 16’s and therefore would make an ideal donor car for someone putting a 16 valve engine into their Peugeot 205 or 309.

If hes liked the car that much why would he offer it to be broken up, prat! Its got 6 months MOT for gods sake!

To sell it mate. Its up to enthusiasts to rescue these cars if they want, not owners to put sentimentality before finances and hold onto it for months and sell for peanuts "because it'll be looked after". Sad reality is if you need to change your car you need to change it. Good luck to him I say. Sure I hope someone picks it up and it stays on the road, but that's up to whoever pays the cash for it, nobody else. :)

So you gonna bid then?

Thats just it mate - they're expensive to run meaning that there's more cars than people able to take them on. Simple economics Tim. I agree it'd be nice if they could all be saved, but I don't think its worth getting annoyed about until the particular car you want to buy is under threat, then its down to who wants it more. A "how dare they break it" attitude isn't quite applicable to the BX yet :).

Not having a dig so please don't take offence :D.

Wise words softly spoken. I have often said sentimentality doesn't work when it comes to old cars. Cash is our God now I'm afraid.
