Another BX Added to the Fleet

Post by Ian_Fearn »

Well tonight thanks to Tim Leech, Sue and I became the proud owners of the stunning 23,000 mile BX TXS Auto.

Poor old Elf has been experiencing a suspension problem that i've not managed to get to the bottom of and it just felt like the right time to sort something else out for her.
Over and out from me

And you told me not to get rid of my TGS! Well, Tim, when a car has to go it has to go.

Ian will look after it...

...Especially after the rather 'oops' ELF incident

Wouldn't bother me if I owned a Renault, at least it would get me there!

It would get me there no questions, its the most reliable car ive ever owned, just that at 20mpg on a good day for it to sit in a field is a bit pointless, and if I can use a Citroen I will.

Now I'm really puzzled. :? :? :? If its pointless in taking it to a meeting of car enthusiasts , what is the point of having it? OK the accent may be on Citroen but you will have some possibly interesting conversations as a result of taking it.

I thought the same. You're not keeping a museum, Tim, after all. Cars should be enjoyed and rare ones displayed in appropriate environments, of course - like a car show :D

Don't be afraid to use it - otherwise why keep it?

Whilst I agree fully about cars being actually used and driven, I can well understand Tims concerns about making a fairly long trip in a car which only does 20 mpg! Fuel costs these days are a major factor in selecting a particular car for a journey!

Which is why the 2CVers have got it made, even if they thrash the car! If only the GSA was quite so thrifty...

MPG figures on a Petrol BX are not wonderful anyway. Although I did get 36mpg over a 400 mile journey recently. :D Mixed local journeys probably return about 28-30 so I wouldn't think Tims 20mpg would be a big problem just across the midlands. :)
I guess you're thinking in terms of your oil burner?
