BX 16 Temp Senders

Just fitted a temp gauge to the 16.

I've done this on a couple of TD's and theres 2 sender units. 1 for the red light and 1 for the yellow light.

On the 16 i could only find one for the red light. Speaking to Vanny he seemed to think theres only 1 on the 16.

Well i swapped the sender for the replacement (brand new) and changed the necessary wiring on the back of the instrument panel.

Put it all back together and there doesnt appear to be any signal to the gauge.

Any ideas?

There are 2 sender units & wires on my '89 carby 16RS.
One for the yellow, and one for the red warning lights.

Note that the red one could have been sacrificed, if a temp gauge sender unit is/has been fitted. Or simply missing if gauge was fitted as factory. Also your instrument cluster may be a later replacement unit for any reason.

While you are there anyway fiddling with these overtemp warnings, I strongly recommand that you fit a mini-ceramic-buzzer (£2.5-ish) in parallel with the lower temp warning. It will never, ever make any noise, UNLESS it is really necessary to draw your attention to an overtemp issue during drive

Donno what it saved me really - but I was VERY close to p**s my pants first time I ever got a warning on a failed coolant hose

I was pretty convinced there should be 2 senders.

Anders, where are they located on yours?

I can only find 1 behind the thermostat housing.

Job done now, there are 2 senders but one is very well hidden
