1992 Silver BX TZD Turbo estate for sale

Post by ohms »

Well, after much indecision I have finally decided to part company with my faithful TZD estate.

It has done 124K miles and comes with MOT until July 08 and tax until the end of this month.

The car is in excellent cosmetic condition and drives faultlessly. I am the third owner...the first owner had the car for 12 years and i got a wodge of receipts with the car totalling a spend of over 6K for repairs and maintenance during his ownership.

The car has had an oil and filter every 6K miles since new with a fully stamped book and invoices to prove this, it has had...

New rear arm bearings, new rear height corrector, new rear strut, new front strut (although the drivers side one is a bit creaky). It has had new spheres at various times throughout it's life, the most recent being 10K ago.

It had a new accumulator sphere 2 months ago, and a hydraflush and change of LHM in the last 4 weeks. the suspension and hydraulics are faultless...the car doesn't sink over night and goes up and down with lengthy ticks from the pressure regulator. The brakes are superb and the steering is accurate and direct.

Quite simply, the car drives better than any BX I've ever owned (up to 7 at the last count) and has many years of service left in it. there are no overheating issues and she pulls very well while returning excellent MPG.

There are however a few problems with the car which unfortunately due to a change of contract at work have meant that I haven't got the time to fix.

1. The car is a poor starter from cold...She always starts but it takes a good while first thing in the morning before she eventually bursts into life. Once started however and with a bit of warmth in her she starts first turn of the key. I believe the crappy Lucas fuel pump to be at fault, but i do have in my posession a known good Bosch replacement with injectors still attached to a 90K mile 1.9 306 TD engine which the buyer can put in the boot of the BX and drive off with as part of the selling price.

2. the speedo cable gave up 2 weeks ago...A common problem and a cheap and relatively simple fix. The mileage is stuck on 123,894 miles...the MOT dated July of this year was on 121,000 so you can see that it hasn't done many more than the reading.

And that's about it, everything else is spot on and she drives and handles beautifully despite these few shortcomings.

If you're interested in the car then give me a ring or PM me.

Is that you bidding on your own motor, or is that what you want for it?  Seriously it sounds like a bargain to me ... but then I'm biased cos I have the same wagon but in Triton green :D. No spare Pug 306 engine but sporting brand spanking new front flexi hoses and an MOT valid for a year from today \:D/

It is a bargain, the interior is like new, easily the best BX I've ever seen. the bodywork has a few scratches here and there but it is all original and there is absolutely no rust.

first person to see will happily hand over the readies and drive off in her.

Get these little things fixed and you will have a BX good for another 100K!! :D

The car does need 2 new front tyres now as well, as they are borderline at the limit. Will try and sort this over the weekend. :D

Hi Ken! I'm lurking a bit, but I am sure my BX-less status is a temporary blip  I am going to wait for the BX of my dreams: A very, very good order 1991-93 metallic green TZD Turbo Estate with Air...

Well, I might get bored waiting! So in the meantime I just might have to grab another GTi auto... Let's see.
