Ebay - Dried Up?

Post by m_2975 »

It seems to me that things are drying up a little on the bay lately for the BX!

Anyone noticed the same?

It goes in waves. Cheap listing days bring them out again and just when you think the last one has been sold, you get a choice.

You should try Trademe, as soon as I put some parts up for sale a mass swamping occurs.
Most of the clowns putting stuff up for sale have no idea what they are actually selling, for Example advertising a BX19TRS Taillight, BX19TRS Headlight etc etc. Stuff that fits all BX.

Latest fad is to say the BX is fitted with Airbags and ABS brakes, well the later can be true except the 19TRS I looked at

Trouble is that on places like Trademe and Ebay people expect to get things literally for nothing, had a guy after a Starter Motor from me reckons only worth $50 and thats all he would pay. Well duh checked with a dealer $200 second hand even checked with a guy who sells recon Starters and well you dont want to know how much

Caught a few timewasters, still not worried I will sit on the goods incase I need them myself  little point in giving away stuff when its going to cost you to buy at a later date.

That's very true Kiwi. It might have something to do with the fact that they don't really need it at the time so it's just something to have. If it's too expensive then they just don't want it for the sake of it.

I buy things from the UK on ebay quite alot. The only thing for me is that if the item goes for too much money then I can't justify it because the shipping is almost always at least double of what I paid for it!

Most of the things I buy though are things that I can't get here. What's the point in buying something from over there and then being lobbed with a massive delivery bill when I can go down the road and get it myself wholesale?

Get that over here with 'boot' fairs etc.........I did one for my daughters school for charity a few years back. Got given a complete set of 'jelly mould' shape Ford Granada wheeltrims from my place of work. They were for a current car then and were at least £50 punds each as new....which they were. Put them up for sale for £20 the set.........(this was for charity as well). Best offer was for £10 for the lot......needless to say I didn't sell them to the 'twat' and gave the donation of £10 myself and let the school sell them later for a better price.

I've done a few boot sales myself in the past when we've been short of a few quid. Alas most are swamped with mingebags who want everything for nothing. One fella really tried my patience by offering two quid for a brand new £125 motorbike helmet I had. At that point my sense of humour left me completely and I said 'if I were giving it away you're the kind of **** who want me to give them money to take it' and suggested he ***ed off pretty sharpish. He did.

Many months ago when I was hunting another BX I rung a guy up said I was on my way down and half way there he phoned me to say he had sold it to someone else.
Two weeks later I see said BX back on Tradme for $1,000 more that what the guy paid for it
Basically the guy who got it saw a quick buck and lo and be hold a month later said bloke nabbed another cheapy motor and did same thing again, did some digging and this guy was well into it except one thing he forgot and that was the IRD (Taxman) also watchs the Trademe site and well good luck to him although he has been quite for a couple of months.

Just shows dont sell to cheap someone will be out to scalp you and make a quick buck for themselves.
