Looks like a great car, very very rare and that'll be one of the more desirable ones in 20 years time if it still goes.

I wouldn't have one though as looking at the Citroen parts list EVERYTHING for the 4x4 is discontinued. It would be hell trying to get parts.

It's something that you'd go to the effort of putting in a new clutch and then putting in a museum as you wouldn't dare drive it in fear or breaking something.

Seller says "The clutch is quite a big job and I cannot have the car off the road for long enough to do it. However this must be one of the best - if not the only 4x4 estate around and they are still great cars".

Any interested party should be able to bargain that start price down as i bet a quote from a garage would probably be near to that price for the clutch, or more???

More, I'd have thought - I'm sure I read somewhere it was 10+ hours labour to change it, and more than a few went to the scrappers after a clutch change resulted in a total loss of drive - never found out why the two went together though! If it wasn't 400 miles from me I think my bid finger would be twitching.....
I NEED a BX TD.

Not possible. When it goes bang, you get no drive at all.

It would be an interesting project to buy that, a 405mi16x4 transfer box, an XM 2.1TD engine and a 1.9TD head. You could have a BX 21 TZD 4x4.

Might be hell to insure though.

That would be awesome but definately one for the hardcore BX fan with a hell of a lot of money.

One question though, I'm not that technically minded, why the 1.9TD, what's wrong with the standard head on the 2.1 motor and if you did use the head off the 1.9 would it bring the capacity down nearer 2.0?

The capacity of an engine is determined by the bore of the cylinders, and the stroke of the crankshaft so no, the capacity of the engine will remain the same at 2088cc.

I'd use the 1.9 head as it's an 8v head rather than the 2.1 head which is a 12v. The 8v head suits big low-down torque better than the 12v one, and you can get bigger valves in the 8v one too. The 12v head gave the 2.1 engine a high headline power output (110bhp) but I don't think it's as good in the midrange. An 8v head might not produce the same peak power, but I'll bet it would be a more powerful engine in the midrange.

Plus the 12v head is rather large. I wouldn't want to try getting it into the BX engine bay.

ahh I didn't realise the 2.1 was a 12v, that makes perfect sense now, sounds even more of an awsome idea now, imagine what sort of torque you could get with a bigger turbo and injectors as well!, would be impressive stuff I bet.

I thought some of these 4x4's once the transfer box has gone kaput, have been converted to run as 2wd??
