Paint colours and trims

Post by MikeS »

Can anybody suggest the best website to look up the full range of BX paint colours and trims that were offered. I found one for all years of the DS -- it had some great colours, and naff ones too -- all depending on your taste, of course.

Thanks for that, Charlie. I didn't realise BXs were in so many colours. Useful info too on putting the stuff on.

That site's useful, very useful, but it doesn't have all the BX paint codes. MikeS, you though that list was large, well it's only three quarters of the colours.

Paint colours

Post by MikeS »

Thanks for that, BXpert. I had no idea they did very many colours, especially as red and silver come up so often for the cars advertised on Ebay. Now if only they'd made some in stainless steel like, I seem to recall, the DeLorean.

Hi guy's

i have purchased some paint to spray the repairs i am doing on my car
and it apears to be to creamy in colour not white like the car
i have a paint code of EWT c S can anyone tell me the importance and significance of the cS bit. :?

looking at the list and the colours on the chart taking into acount my monitor the coresponding colour looks even more creamy in colour than the one i have bought.

my next step is to take my scuttle grille panel to the citroen body shop and see if they can shed some light on this :!:

Regards to all KERMIT

significance of the cS bit
think this just tells u that the paint code is for a car, c, and i think its m for an estate, though why even bother at all is another matter

but it makes no difference to the EWT code

the colours can weather and fade/alter over time so there might be a little difference but all i can suggest is check the paint code, spray a little test area in a out of the way spot and compare, or check with the people who mixed the paint for u that they got the blend right

as far as i am aware the 'c S' refered to some sort of shade adjustment, but i do like the idea of it being what charlie said, though why would there be a different code for estates and saloons as surely they would have the same colour?

I am going to take my filler flap to the citroen bodyshop along with my paint code to see what they have to say.

the citroen dealer i am going to is worthing motors and just in case you didn't know this they were the first citroen dealer in the UK.
So if they don't know i am as they say in france Up le creek!

Hi Vanny
I am hoping to get down there tommorrow i will ask if they have any BX bit's
my repairs have come to a standstill at the moment as my car is outside and the rain won't stop for more than 20 minutes
And they call this place sunny Worthing. :?:

We call it costa del geriatrica or god's waiting room.
i am getting to the age where i will be booking in at reception in a few years.

Regards KERMIT :)

Gentlemen,

The two last letters are quite significant. Well, when I say significant I mean when you respray.

Take my paint code on my GTI. It's EPNcR.
and now take my paint code on my TZI. It's EJXcS.

According to the Citroën paint repair manual the letter in lower case above is a manufacturers reference (Meaning that "c" was a particular paint manufacturer). The last letter (Being the "R" and "S") stand for the paint application method. There were only two application methods used.

The "R" means that the clear coat method was used in the paint job. The paint was applied and a cleal lacquer was then applied to it.

The "S" means that the synthetic method was used in the paint job. I'm not exactly sure about how the synthetic method works but I think it's got something to do with the binder of the paint being synthetic and hance not needing a clear coat on top.

I hope that this clears things up.

Hi guy's

Here's another one on this subject.
I went to my local CITROEN dealer the first in the UK in 1900 and frozen to death.
I think they did some work for the Roman's!!!! or maybe it was Boadicia
They fitted her rather fetching hub cap's. 8)

Anyway back to the question about the extra letter's.
The bodyshop manager told me they where factory letters so as to tell which factory and production line it was assembled and painted on.
This information combine with the chassis number give tracability to every car.

This he told me is even more important now as CITROEN make cars in several countries and it helps to check the shade of a particular colour

The C1 is made in the TOYOTA factory along side it's two sister cars the PEUGEOT 107 and the TOYOTA AYGO.

Regard's KERMIT :)
