braided heater hose BX17TZD
I have found a leaking heater hose on my 17TZD and i was wondering if anyone out there has a decent s/h one.
Been to the CITROEN dealer today and a new one is £50 +VAT.
Its the one that runs from the back of the head near the HP pump drive to the heater matrix it is braided to protect it from the heat of the turbo.
I am undertaking major invasive surgery on my bx at the moment to irradicate a metal moth infestation will try and post some pictures as a guide to repairing RUSTY BITS.

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Mine doesn't seem that bad doc
I think at some time in it's early life someone sprayed it with metal moth insecticide ( waxoil)
eccept for the inaccessible bits above the front wheel arch liners but never mind a bit of cutting grinding shaping welding grinding sealing painting ah what fun.
That what owning a BX is about ISN'T IT
Ill try and post some pictures.

Well, yeah. But all that lot is getting more and more common on BX's now too.citronut wrote:usualy its f**ds and vau***lls that disolve like that,

This one hasn't been helped by all the mud and crap (of the bovine variety) up the farm..
But times taken it's toll too.
It'll be rot free and shiny in little enough time..
And a good deal heavier once I've emptied three tonnes of waxoyl in to all the box sections.
Not wishing to be a damp squid, but I'll bet my pension yours is much much worse than mine under all that underseal.Tim Leech wrote:Doc why have stolen my car and dismantled it!?
Mine looked perfect till I started prodding it.
Without doubt the back end of yours is infinitley more pickled than mine..
And mine aint pretty...
Good job I got 30kilo's of welding wire really...

If i ever work out how to download the pictures from my phone
I will update you on my repair all seems to be going well at the moment.
One side done just got to put thing's back that i removed to get to it.
Both front wing's are in amazing condition considering the milage.
must be a good sign for many more miles.
checked elswhere on car and found a bit of rot on the nearside rear corner just above the exhaust so some more welding to do once the front is finished.
I hate to say it but i too have had f**ds and V*****lls and i agree that they disolve far quicker than the trusty BX.
But has anyone driven a F**d or V*****ll that is as comfortable as a BX
That hasn't cost a fortune to buy.
Also managed to rebush the wiper spindle that's great NO unwanted free play YES!

I managed to re bush using 2 short lengths of old 1/2" bore copper heating pipe, using knife and fork techniques.
The old imperial pipe spec is best, as it has a thicker wall compared to the metric pipe, nill cost just time.
I posted the method in the "Hints and Tips" section on the FCF..
So when the forum's back on line, worth a look...

Hi Mulley
i have the luxury of a lathe in my workshop so i turned down the spindle itself to 10.75mm leaving the bit at the bottom alone as part of the linkage runs on that.
then i drilled out the centre of the old bush to 13.00mm turned up a new bush from bronze o/d 13.2mm i/d 11.00mm pressed it into the 13.00 mm hole and redrilled to 11.00mm this gives a clearance of 0.25mm or 0.0010" in old money to allow for lubrication. reassembled with anti scuff compound and grease and a new E clip.
refit to car total time approx 4 hours.
i have pictures on my phone of the spindle etc but as i said in an earlier post at the moment i can't work out how to down load the B****Y pictures
no more sloppy wiper YES!
Regards Kermit
