GSF Part numbers

Post by ohms »

hi all,

i'm servicing the TZD at the weekend, and would llike to order parts from gsf, but am unsure which partnumbers I need.

I want to buy a new fuel filter, and it's the big canister one near the LHM tank, a new thermostat and a new rad fan temp sender.

Anybody know part numbers for these for an 89 TZD.

thanks

Filter type will be dependent on your fuel filter - is the primer button angled towards you or on is it on top of the filter ? One type's Purflux, the other Bosch I think (though I can't remember which is which from memory).

GSF do have an online shop where you can look up part numbers...

GSF have an excellent online shop that tells you the part numbers and they guy at the counter was extremely impressed when I read off my list to him - saved him a lot of time.

Just select your model first and that will narrow down the possibilities. If you see more than one part number listed, check out the details of each part (it may need your RP number or engine type for instance) and make your selection.

If you get stuck, come back here for more assistance.

Fuel filter could be either: N12104 or N12105

Not altogether sure if GSF do fan switches, never bought one from them, so couldn't tell you a part number for that. I always buy new from Cit, since they be so cheap.

Your 89 YZD will have an enormous thermostat rather than the normal sized one used on later cars like the ZX. The changeover goes with the plastic filter over the thermostat.

My local dealer was quite useless but my friendly accessory shop had a Quinton Hazell one in stock complete with gasket.

Have fun getting it apart - I had to drill the studs out.

Cit want 41+VAT for the rad fan switch, here are the choices from GSF...

N93484 RADIATOR THERMO SWITCH BX ALL PETROL (SINGLE FAN MODELS) 2 PIN 9.90 Add
N93486 RADIATOR THERMO SWITCH BX ALL MODELS WITH 2 FANS (3 PIN) 9.90 Add

Can somebody just confirm that it is a 3 pin on the 89 TZD and that is has 2 fans please. cars not here to check, and can't remember.

Thanks :)

The GSF parts list text is at wrong.
Wether you need a 2pin or 3pin thermoswitch has nothing to do with single or dual fan setup.

the 2 pin thermoswitch is used in "E" (Economic) models - i.e. very sparsely equipped models like 16RE & 14RE. Most of these models have a single function make-contact 2pin thernmoswitch, which simply toggles the fan on or off by the rad temperature.

The 3pin thermoswitch is used in most models which utilises 2-speed fan setup. Either a single fan with a drop resistor for speed setting 1, or a dual fan setup and 2 relays which selects the 2 fans in either serial or parallel connection for LO and HI speed.

Your TZD uses the 3pin thermoswitch. Wether is has single or dual fans is just one glimse of your eyes away - through the grille 8)
