Xantia air-con

Hi Guys,

the air-con has stopped working in the Xantia. Does anyone know where the TX valve is (so I can gain access to it prior to dropping it off at the air-con place).

So has mine, and hello Shane.

The TX valve, I think, is buried in the dash, somewhere just before it squirts into the evaporator.
That’s way down the list of problems.
First would be to stand outside the driver’s door when switching on the air conditioning, to hear if the compressor clutch clicks in loudly.
If yes, look for bubbles in the sight glass on the drier bottle.
Constant froth means low gas.
If the compressor doesn’t engage, the gas may be low enough to cause the pressure switch on the drier bottle to prevent the clutch from engaging.

My car was made in November 1994, and it’s only now that the aircon has stopped putting out cold.
It still runs and circulates froth, but not cooling anymore.

Assuming total gas lost, stone in condenser is most likely. Most in the UK stop working because of (salt induced) electrical maladies - not so much of a problem out your way!
