Another interesting one.

The guy declines an offer of £70 then relists it with starting price of a tenner. :-k [-(

Strange one that, will have to see if the bidding gets interesting on this one?? i think a £70 offer was fair, its a pretty unwanted version anyway thats likely to be stripped for parts. That would be a shame but not many people want petrol 1.6's??

I have one of these undesirable versions as well....but hey I only do 4000 miles a year so why should I have a noisy diesel with more expensive maintenance?
Is anyone buying this car for parts ? then I would buy the rear bumper...

Noisy... well, at idle and slow speeds yes. At higher speeds I'd say there's no difference to be honest.

But I can't agree about the more expensive maintenance. With a Diesel you have no ignition system to maintain, and you don't have the fragility of a carburettor with the risk of blocked jets, wear etc. With a Diesel engine maintenance is nothing more than oil & filter, fuel filter and air filter changes.

Ok sorry for my wrong statement...I must admit I was only repeating what someone told me ones...but I don't really know much about car mechanics.

... I do agree with you though. I hadn't driven a petrol engine for a fair while before driving Mark's 1.6 meteor a while back. At speed it felt no different from my TD, but at slow speeds round town it was uncannily quiet, and at one junction I thought I'd stalled it.

Sort of what you get used to isn't it.

They're all noisey compared to modern cars, just a lack of cabin & engine insulation. Anyone managed to improve theirs? & if so share your secrets please :)

There's loads you can do to make a BX infinetley quieter. Depends how far you want to go really..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I'm going to do it soonish to my TD. I read a web page about some chap who had done quite a bit of sound deadening but I can't for the life of me remember where it was....I'll post some piccies etc when I do it.
