19TRS AUTO (FREE)

Post by tim leech »

As some of you may know I was kindly given a white 1987 E plate BX 19TRS auto hatch a month or so ago by fourwheelsteer, it did had a few mechanical faults and needed a good clean etc, these have been fixed and the car was machine polished and the interior valeted.

As the tax is about to expire and I cant see myself being in a position to tax it for a month or so as I'm saving for a holiday so can anyone use a good solid reliable car?.

Since Ive had it ive replaced the split water hose and flushed and refilled the antifreeze, changed the oil and filter, air filter, wiper blades and spark plugs. The sticking throttle was down to the autochoke sticking on which has since been lubricated and works ok now,

I have fitted a set of P2 smoked rear lamps, a decent used rear bumper (thanks Artic) to replace the damaged one and Ken kindly donated some P2 TG wheetrims and some front bumper inserts as mine were missing/broken, a new set of new GB number plates have also been fitted but the original supplying citroen dealer ones are available (ones cracked), the original Citroen dealer sticker is also still in place.

Good Points: :D

Runs excellently, quiet and smooth
Structularly solid, boot floor, inner wings etc all good
New alternator/starter, spheres and fuel pump recently fitted.
Just serviced by me (see above)
Lovely smooth autobox
Everything works!
Unbroken Glovebox
Electric windows all round
Electric Sunroof
Power Steering
No LHM leaks
Lovely clean "TR" luxury interior
Very good on fuel for what it is
MOT until October 2008!
LOTS of service history, mostly Citroen
Quite Rare and a early Mk2
Dash bulbs replaced by me
Rear spoiler
Heater controls and fan all work
Tidy body asides rust already mentioned
I can tax on your behalf at your cost

Bad Points

Tax about to expire 31/12/07
Creases to both n/s doors (not me)
Small Rust hole on osf wing panel (NOT structural)
IT IS NOT DIESEL!
Ignition switch spring faulty but she starts fine though.
Its 20 years old!

To a Citroen enthusiast/BX club member who will use it and look after it shes FREE! yes FREE, the same as I what I got it for but she is a much improved car now in my opinion. There seems no point in ebaying it as it will just get bought by somoene who wants a cheap "banger" who will throw it away once the MOT is out and she deserves better, you can get in this car and drive it without doing anthing to it(asides the tax) , I would suggest changing the cambelt as a precaution though.

Any interested parties please get in touch quickly before I change my mind and store it away lol

Ta!

NB I forgot to mention that when starting from cold its better to let it idle for a minute before you set off as when you put it into Drive/Reverse sometimes it cuts out.

Olympic Blue, very mystical beasts have that colour. You know that the next one you spot will be a lovely 4x4

Darn, if I'd been quicker off the mark I could have had my old car back. I miss the old beast - it would have been a better car for the 150 mile trip down to see my folks over Christmas than my St Tropez.

Still it's nice to know it's in safe hands.

Each to there own I suppose, but a 19TZI auto in olympic blue is my "holy grail" when it comes to BXs.
