One of "ours" heading "your" way

Post by AlanS »

This just about tells the story.

The buyer is a registered UK e-Bayer with 100% feedback, so it looks like this one's yours.
It's apparently a very nice tidy car that has had far too much money spent on it like all Citroens that Sydney "specialists" have had their hooks into.
If it's as good as they reckon, it should raise a few eyebrows when it gets there.

To put it into perspective:

5,856.56 AUD = 2,615.29 GBP

Add to this freight of possibly around another A$1500 and you've got a fairly expensive BX16V even by our standards.

What makes this a bit interesting, is that normally, we have Aussies trying to figure out how to bring cheap cars from there over here and getting beaten by all the taxes and freight charges and the only cars I've ever heard of heading your way have been DSs which are in the collector car category and believe it or not, probably more exist in Australia than do in the UK, but a BX16V????

There were less than 100 brought out here originally and we'd be lucky to have more than 50 or 60 still in existence, which begs the question, are you guys selling them too cheaply, are the ones you have showing obvious signs of wear, are the number dwindling so fast that it's nigh on impossible to find one over there or did the buyer not go looking hard enough?
Maybe the prospect of having one that the roof didn't leak on was too much temptation for him to resist?
Whatever the reason, it makes a mockery of the oft heard statement "Ya can't get anything for 'em these days. People just won't pay the prices" and one thing's for certain; I'll bet a cannibal didn't get it to pinch the engine for his 205.
