It should have if it was a Cit Fit one, either on the front N/S wing under the bonnet or the rear N/S behind the trim in the boot (between the plastic and the metal skin of the rear wing). Chances are its been disconnected for annoying the living daylights out of someone. If its aftermarket then have a look under the bonnet for a siren/horn type thing - it would be weird if it did not have one.

Just a quick update on the BX:

Unfortunately after the Xantia decided that it had had enough of the 122k clutch and snapped the clutch clip, I'm now a weeny bit skint. Unfortunately also this week my sister has decided that her Fiesta isn't reliable enough and bought a 2004 Micra. However the Fiesta has sentimental value to the family and as a result I have offered to take it off her hands and give it the attention its been begging for since being brought back on the road after 3 years of being laid up (after a pitiful 30,000 miles).

This all means that for fear of seriously irritating my neighbours the BX has to go, which I'm a tad gutted about as I haven't had it that long and in that time I've grown a bit attached to it's charms.

However my local Citroen specialist has hopefully found a home for it and is going to do all the work needed to make it roadworthy once more. If it does fall through I will offer it on this forum to the first person to turn up with a trailer, I know the car is worthless as it stands so I shan't be asking any money for it.

Anyway in short I'm now, once again, BX-less...but it will not be my last as when funds and circumstances allow I'll be looking for a mk1

Change of plan!!! The Fiesta just isn't my thing, as much as I tried to like it I just can't see me driving it sooooo I'm going to sell it and use the money to put toward getting the BX fixed and back on my drive.

Will update when I know some more as I've only just decided this.

 I annoy myself with how much I change my mind, so god knows how anyone else feels, my poor girlfriend!

I'm still selling the Fiesta but want to make it road worthy first so plan is, sort the brakes, take it for a test run, clean it put, it on eBay.

The BX has had its back end welded up now and the arm bearing done as well as some GTi steel wheels with 185 section tyres so just the service timing belt and clutch to do now, followed by a gooooood clean and that will be going up for sale too.

The reason for the sale? Potentially something a bit more special, however nothing is confirmed yet so if your interested watch this space...

Thanks for all the comments, was hoping it'd get a good reaction. The car is another saved from the scrappy.

My good friend and Citroen Specialist, Geoff called me a couple weeks back about this car saying that the owner had bought a newer car and wanted rid of his BX and could possibly be a mk1 (I was after one at the time) and if I was interested he would get more details.

Obviously I said yes and the next day I found out that it was actually a phase 1 16v and was I still interested...stupid question really.

Geoff viewed the car on my behalf and came back to me saying that it needed work but was well worth saving and the best bit was that all the owner wanted for the car was the weigh in value plus the value of the remaining tax, its even MOT'd!

The biggest problem for me was going to be the insurance and the possibility that it may take me years to raise finances to get a tidy restoration so after a chat it was agreed that me and Geoff would both buy it, restore it and use it as a weekend toy and thats where we are now.

I've taken it for a quick run since we had it and all I can say is wow, these 16valves do not know the meaning of cruising, so quick, so responsive and so eager to be pushed and what a noise, fantastic! To say I'm chuffed is an understatement.

Its an '87 built car registered in '88 according the RP number and reg document so I presume is a very early example.

Problems noted so far, other than cosmetic, are faulty ignition switch or starter motor as after the run it died, the ignition comes on but when the key is turned further it does nothing so has to be bump started to be moved at the moment. The sunroof is sealed shut, the back end is a bit unstable at the moment (judging by the negative camber on the 1 wheel the arm bearing has gone) and the speedo cable has snapped so the mileage is around 120,000 but can't be sure although the previous owner says the cable broke recently and the car has been used very little over the past year.

As far as tin worm is concerned its remarkably tidy, the only spots being a bubble on the front passenger door and some starting to show around the windscreen; the A pillars, inner wings and boot are all sound.

My main focus at the moment is to get shot of the other BX and the Fiesta and then get stuck in the the new car.

First on the list to do is the cambelt but all going well it will be stripped apart (once its running properly) and sent off to be resrayed as the paintwork is looking decidedly dull now.

In short another 16V saved from death my Peugeot!

In the meantime if anyone knows of a spare drivers seat for one of these or even a full interior then let me know as the drivers seat has a nice big hole in the side as shown in the picture.

Excellent Nic ! Goes a bit quicker than the Fiesta I reckon. Looks as though that driver's seat was used by Bodie & Doyle - sliding in and out in a hurry. And the guy just wanted the weigh-in value for it ?? Well, that's to your advantage :D

This weekend I have mostly been doing... the quickest ever turnaround to make a car roadworthy.

As has been mentiond in pevious posts my lovely BX TGD has to be sold in order to make room (physically and financially) for the valver.

The car is completely worthless as it was; needing a lot of work, so me and Geoff set about getting it finished this weekend.

The rear arm bearings were changed and the boot floor welded up as well as the rear discs and pads being changed earlier on in the week so all that was left to do was...

Cambelt
Cam seals
Crank seals
Clutch
Service
Octopus
One of the return pipes
Weld inner wing
Glow plug (only one was knackered)

Saturday afternoon culminated in this

Everything was changed and the wing welded up (after setting the car on fire very briefly) and the engine was back in and running by 6pm Sunday evening.

The car is going for its MOT on Tuesday and has already found a buyer who currently owns a BX19 TRS estate and wants a diesel so for a mild outlay he will have a perfect BX that will need nothing doing to it for at least a year, it will also remain local and will be looked after :D . I gave the car a quick test run (on private land) after the work was finished and I must admit I'm quite gutted that it has to go as it drives superbly and, as a habit I need to get out of, I have grown rather attached to it...to think that it could've ended up in a scrappy!

Another BX saved!

In addition the Fiesta's brakes were sorted out yesterday evening as well and I learned that a sticking caliper doesn't always mean a replacement caliper as I was shown how it can be cleaned up into perfect service once more.

One weekend and 2 cars ready for sale, rather productive if I do say so myself.

Finally for todays posts I thought I'd post some pictures up from a trip to the Black Mountains in Brecon I did a couple weeks back, the pictures were all taken along the A4069 and if its realistic to do a trip there I'd recommend it to anyone and absolutely beautiful place and a road that beggars belief:
