Glad it was worth it, Tim. The missing bits were all there last week along with the BX GT rear badge, but if they've gone to another BX then that's good.

So what bits did you grab? Are the front fogs still there?

Does anyone know whether this car was known to the BX Club in the past?

Thats a really depressing sight! I bet it was owned by an old couple who did everything by the book, servicing on the dot, and then realising that scrap value was high and thinking that it would be worth sod all to Joe public. Such a shame.

That's a good theory, also when you see the 'Worthing Motors' sticker on the rear window you can imagine it parked up on the sea front while the elderly occupants open the Thermos of tea, with those chequered blankets over their legs!
Considering the trauma it's suffered it still looks shiny. But a sad fate :?

I had the 19GT badge, speedo cable, cambelt cover, wheelarch liner panel and lots of screws, clips fasteners etc I wonder who had the computer? Mind you its useless without all the sensors and wiring.

And just to prove I do work on bxs that with his head in the engine bay is indeed my goodself :D

I know Ken, its such a shame, same colour as your old 19RD too.

Kitch I would advise your dad to go get some bits for his car as its the same year.

It's not uncommon for cars of this type to be there as a result of the owner dying. The Probate value is always far less than even auction value (to minimise death duties) and so the car ends up at the scrappy. This is what happened to an immaculate and fully-restored Allegro 1500 Special which I've alerted ACI (http://www.allegroclubint.org.uk/) to and also a Viva HC which has now been stripped almost to a bare shell.

No Wink
Good to know: if I hadn't known for certain I would have wasted a speculative journey back to the yard. 8)

P.S. I love Bridges yard...it's like a big adventure park/sweet-shop for those of us who buy almost as much Swarfega as we do soap...

Is that a Montego behind the, ahem, 'portly' gentleman under the BX bonnet Tim?

Dad's aware that it's there Tim, but I don't think theres anything he particularly needs off of it.

He needs a complete bodyshell with mint paintwork plus all the doors. Everything else bolted to it is A1 as far as I know!

Well I was joking about finding some mint ones in the right colour in a scrapyard, but now you mention it I think he does have some in the back of the car now.

Portly? No way! 3 layers of clothing maybe, lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks since Xmas and nearly back down to 12 stone again. :D

Well I have a working speedo albeit rather wobbly.

Sorted. Wish I was 12 stone but free dinners and a love of alcohol mean I'm not going to be!
