Ive reluctantly decided to put my bx gti 8v 2wd up for sale reason being that i have just bought a green bx 16v and it is now surpless to requirements. Its a 1990 h regestration in olyimpic blue with Air con (but not operational and a noisy compressor). Its done 85,000 miles and is in excellent condition. Since owning the car i have fully cleaned and undersealed the underside, The rear arm bearings have been done, The cambelt tensioner, cambelt and alternator belts have been replaced. I have replaced the interior with a phase 1 16v monza style interior added a 16v 4 spoke steering wheel, my old 16v grey alloys, my bx phase 2 chrome tailpipe has been fitted on it, I have added a chrome grill and bumper rubbing strips from a bx meteor. The oil and filter was changed at 84,650 miles. The car has genuine citroen gti spheres all round and coated suspension pipes. All electrics work as they should. The only down sides to the car are the valve stem seals ar just starting to go as the car smells oily on tickover and startup.
Looking for £400 as its not a wreck, The car is located in macclesfield cheshire as i have no space to store it here in cornwall
If you want any more info on the car please PM OR email [email protected] and leave your number and i will get back to you. I will try and get some pictures but its not easy when the cars 300 miles away.
Found some pictures of the gti for you so you can see what its like before you decide to view it. Please note ignore the wheels and sunroof deflector as these parts are now on my bx16v
PLEASE NOTE- i have given ian fearn fist refusal on this car but if he doesnt want it i will not except any less than £400 for it. It it fails to sell ill store it under a dust cover
As mentioned at the top of this advert this motor could do with the valve stem seals and maybe guides doing. I'd send the head off to a company near me and have the valve seats re-cut too.
The question is..... i've never had a cylinder head off before and the question is how quickly could it be done and would anybody be able to be on hand to help me out to make sure its done properly?
Rob mentioned the clutch pedal was a little stiff and as i'd want the car for everyday use i'd want to change the clutch too. Again, could anybody give me some assistance?
Ian, a couple of lads I know have a workshop about 6 miles from here and only do cylinder heads, could ask them for a quote if that would help though you`d probably need to remove it (head) beforehand.
As much as anyone on here who knows me will fail to believe this I once changed some valve stem oil seals (and did all the valves etc at the same time) under the guidance of a mechanical friend and it was as easy as anything.
