RARE MK1 BX19RD, B reg or C reg BX19TRD Diesels 1 must go!
Im buying an "A" reg BX,so i realy nealy to sell on another car to pay for it,so, im offering an "Ultra Rare" BX19RD diesel,B reg,
these MK1 DIESELS are very cheap to run,comfortable,and very retro '80's,
oldest known BX diesel in UK? generaly in good condition,does have a few rust scabs here and there,
it was for sale here,a few months back with some photo's,,
the BX currently has no MOT, so would sell "as is" for £200 or could put an MOT/tax on her,around end of the month time,

Mk1 BX19trd diesel, LHD, italian car,MOT/TAX drive away £400
Goes without saying, this car must go to a good home!

Found it.
I am interested in running veg oil - does anyone know if that roto-diesel pump is going to cause a problem? And if so, is it expensive/difficult to change it for a Bosch one?

In short yes, the rotodiesel pump will die in no time at all if you try and pump unheated vegoil through it...
You can fit a Bosch pump, but you will also need the Bosch injectors and injector pipes, and to either move the studs in the injector pump mounting bracket or fit a Bosch one.
Fitting another pump is simple nuts and bolts, and by using a couple of M8 bolts to secure the pulley, you shouldn't need to disturb the timing belt.
You will almost certainly have to either get a diesel specialist to accurately set the timing tho, or do it by ear until it sounds just right (the pump is mounted on slots, and it is moved back and forth to time it.)

Changing the injection pump on these early engines is fairly easy, and changing the injectors is very simple. Setting the timing is a bit of a faff, but is fairly straightforward.
One thing I would want to do too is make sure the injection pressure (crack-off pressure) is correct, as having tested a few old injectors, I'm amazed how much the pintle springs have relaxed, and hence how low the crack-pressure is. Resetting the crack-off pressures on my van has made an easy 1-2mpg improvement.
Alternatively, you remove the roto-diesel pump and change all it's seals. The mechanicals of the pump itself are just fine, the problem is the seals will all leak like a sieve after a short period.

Thanks for the offer David - having seen your home-made crack-off pressure tester, I'm happy to bow to the master
I've just had a chat with Chris and I am sorely tempted by this car. The original ad mentioned that the clutch and doseur might need changing. Chris can't feel anything wrong with the clutch, and reports that the car sinks quickly once you've switched it off but seems normal otherwise.
The MoT ran out in Jan so it's a bit of an unknown quantity though. I'm going to go and have a look at it sometime soon - maybe over the Easter weekend - and will decide what to do after that.
The thought of being back in a Mk 1 is VERY appealing, especially one which will be as cheap to run as this (assuming no major MoT problems).

Hmm.. it felt very heavy and the bite point was waay too low when I moved it on my driveway when Andrew brought it here to get a bumper from me. It has also been hit from behind many years ago, and the tailgate is damaged. Ideally it could do with a replacement one. Other than that it's a very straight tidy BX Diesel. I'd have it in a moment if I had the space.

where's the damage on the tailgate? i don't recall seeing any damage there, i'll check that out in the morning!
As for the clutch,im not a machanic,but i had no problems with it,but thats not saying it won't need doing! but it certainly drives ok, for MOT, i see no major problems,with being in vietnam,buying a simca 1100,and now this A reg BX,i just haven't got round to,or had the money to MOT this car!!
The BX will be in next months citroenian for sale, im happy to MOT the car if wanted,i will not be ebaying this car,it must go to an enthusiast,and if it does not sell,then i shall just keep it!! infact,the more i think about it........!!!

You'll find the back bumper on it is actually red, as it's off a red MK1 17RD that I had here. Aparently someone ran into the back of the car many years ago, and the rear bumper was held on by whatever means possible. The crossmember behind the bumper is damaged, but not seriously, and the tailgate does have some damage on the offside.
None of it is serious though.
