BX vans...

Post by cavmad »

..been discussed before but could someone please enlighten me as to the chances of getting hold of one? Not for me (wish it was) but as I seem to recall there's only a handful in Britain he wondered what the chances of finding one in France are plus the likely cost of a driveable/useable one? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have never seen a BX van in 18 years of living in France, only ambulances. Difficult to understand, I would have thought it would have been a huge success at the time.

BTW, I would give my right arm for one as well.

I well remember visiting Ireland in the early '90s, and finding that there were *loads* of BX vans on the road there; I think their tax laws favour vans as ours once did.

I would imagine most of them must have been flogged to death by now, but there must be a few still on the go...

Presumably it would have to be an Automatic too then?

Justin Shields (JayBpy) has a BX van in a fetching shade of silver I do believe, don't know if he'd part with it though...
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I've seen Jayboys in the flesh and was well impressed. In the unlikely event anyone spots one for sale please let me know, wherever it is. Thanks and regards.

I've seen that silver van, i passed it on the M1 & couldnt believe my eyes... saw it at the meet as well, very rare & expensive i guess.

Cheaper to convert a car surely than get an original....

Uhm, doesn't "van" refer to a BX that has a higher roof? Like this one:

Or do you mean something like a delivery van with just 2 seats?

Van to 'us' means like the silver one in the picture. Usually two doors plus rear door/hatch, no side windows and no rear seats. I don't know what the one is in your post but I'd love to know more about it. To me it looks possibly like a wheelchair adapted version or possibly some sort of weekend camper type thing.

Hm, well there are many pictures of that "campervan" type on the net if you search for "citroen bx van". And that one in the picture got "VAN" written on it ;) I think to remember that some of them are located in finland as they cost less taxes & insurance than the normal version. But I could as well be totally wrong.

Anyways, I've got a BX two-seater standing in front of my house. But it's the non-break version and it has got rear windows. It has apparently been converted, as the rear doors are in place but hard-locked so they can't be opened. I can post some pictures of it tomorrow if you like.
