New magazine article on 16v
New magazine article on 16v
Not sure if anyone else has seen this but I've just picked up the latest issue of Performance French Cars (after recovering from the temporary blindness I received by looking at the horrid Saxo on the front) and there is a feature inside on the 16v, just read through it and it seems that the BX is finally being realised as more than a donor for stinking 205's!
It's worth having a quick read in WHSmith whilst the other half is across the road in New Look trying the whole shop on

Rob, Performance GTI has changed its name to Performance french Car (summer last year), has since changed owners and is now under new ownership via Kelsey Publishing,
i think the article may have been done before the change of mag. ownership, Luke and i were in weekly contact with the staff at the mag prior to the change of ownership,
but good to get some more publicity!!

They didnt 'Drop' the mag as such, they were offrered by Kelsey for it! the staff on the mag didnt know anything about it until the day it all went through! and to be honest the top bods at Unity never seemed overly bothered by the french seen and instead liked to concentrate on the other mags int he line up! Hence why the forum is so out of date yet the other titles they hold are the opposite!
Ahh right I see, it is a shame though as (coming from the VW world as I have) it was nice that the French mag had that link to PVW via Simon (where has he gone now?), still I will continue buying it for a bit to see if things pick up again as if, like you say, the mag didn't know anything about it until the day it happened it could explain why this months mag seems to be lacking a bit.

trouble with Si was that he was a bit too keen on featuring cars that took their influences from the vw scene! and seemed to be singlehandedly turning the french scene into a mirror image! although he always produced great articles and a good mag it was getting very samey! very much like the Dub scene at the mo! its always lowered and on Bently rims now it seems and to be honest once youve seen one lowered golf on bently rims youve seen them all!!
but we can hope for the future! the new mag guys are self confessed French nuts and with anyluck will pull the mag back to how it used to be witgh a good mix of tuned, track and show cars with some hints and tips in there too!
and on a good note, you can now buy it in tesco!!!

I've been buying mine from my local Tesco for a while now (probably because it is one of the huge stores), saves me a trek to smiths every month.
I know what you mean with Si, I think the French scene could benefit from some VW infuence but I wouldn't want it to go all the way as the reason I came out of it was because of the sameiness and the fact its all a bit clicky these days, defies the point somewhat.
Well its good to know all is set to return to normal, role on next months issue.
Cheers for the info

PFC
A very good read - I got my copy a couple of days ago.
When in the hands of Unity Media they did a nice selection of articles featuring Gary Coles BX 16v race car of which I have all issues and will be uploading them for download at some point, The old editor of the maf did give me permission to do so but now the ownership has moved on I can see no reason to keep waiting.
And the good news is the younger generation appear to have a lot of respect for the BX 16v as many of the PFC forums users have shown.
Cheers
Luke
