As you say it is ripe for a camper conversion and you could still use the locker above the cab for the toblerone's
fittng a ski rack and well roberts your mothers brother.

In the cold light of day I'm actually wondering what I could do with this really. Billy's Toblerone transporter aside! :D
Yes, it would make a good campervan but it actually reminds me of those old Sandman vans that were popular with surfies in Australia. Built for one dude, his surfboard and a mattress with enough space for the occasional 'Sheila' he could drag into his lair off the beach. We don't really have the climate or the waves for such activities ( well, until global warming gets going).
Once the days toils are over and I'm tucking into the liquid stimulation again - I'll manage to convince myself that I really need such a thing!

I would honestly give very serious consideration to that if it were in Britain. I wouldn't know what to do with it either but I'd find a use for it somehow, even if it was just to annoy the neighbours!

Actually, sod that. I'd paint it Kawasaki Lime Green and turn it into a 'Sandman' just like the one in that pic mate. That (green Sandman) is quite possibly the coolest car I've seen in a long while.

It was one of them that was the "truck" that Max and his wife were rolling about in halfway through the first Mad Max film in 1979.

Todd,

Just a few words really:

Go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on :)

I would be seriously tempted if I had a more accomodating wife (or was single!) Mind you if she reads this I probably would be.

Only kidding really, I think she does well enough to put up with me as it is. Anyway, good luck if you decide to go for it.

Divorce, because marriage is so last year.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Well, thanks for the encouragement chaps! My wife laughed until she saw that I was actually planning the route and the logistics to get the white.. er yellow elephant back to base ( I should have been more discreet). Then the D word was brandished but that's not the first time..

I could only possibly tow it behind the Merc 406D which is pretty gutless but can pull 1500kg. Therefore weight is critical, with a trailer weighing perhaps 500kg. I know a normal BX break weighs around 1000kg but the seller doesn't know what the ambulance weighs. All that extra metal in the roof - and the bigger rear door - perhaps another 100Kg?

Also the 406D has got to go to be evaluated for its 'historical vehicle' status next week which would make it tax exempt, before it hits any highway.

Probably the bidding will go out of my range but if it doesn't the wife says : yeah, go and get it , but you're not parking it anywhere near here. Maybe I could live in it? Summer's just round the corner! :D

Just got a message from Remy (BX19GTI1988) regarding another BX ambulance that is available on the French BX club ( BX World.net ).
It's participated as an assistance vehicle in four Monte-Carlo historic rallies. 1.9D 1990, numerous new parts. I think it's great but a bit too loud for everyday use perhaps? Don't know the price.

Remy says that he also spotted a BX hearse recently in Le Mans - pictures hopefully to follow..
