BX is now back home!
picked it up in Devizes, drove her to oxford, then on to Birmingham, then back down to London, where she blew a hydrualic pipe over the Dartford crossing! but managed to get back to Aldershot safly, covering some 422 miles!!

I can oblige with part of that request, but I'll leave the report to Chris - he's the one who drove it as far in a day as it's been in the last two years!

The seller lived within the grounds of Devizes Castle, a really lovely setting in a very pretty town. Here's BXC's own Meteor Man posing outside the seller's driveway.

Sitting in its home since 1987.

Nothing in here but what's absolutely necessary - just like the rest of the car!

The now-traditional Proud New Owner shot. The seller was giving up driving purely because he didn't need to any more - the car had done 240 miles in the last year and he felt that 72 years was long enough.

What a clean car! Not bad for it's age...

Look forward to seeing it at the National - or even Crich?

Thanks for the pics Stu. A beauty indeed! Check out those GSA-style keep fit window winders and plastic door cards! And that engine sounded sweeeeet. Just hope this hydraulic leak isn't the dreaded Octopus........

Not sure its going to make it to crich now! but it will be out and about soon,(will prob be taking the italian mk1 bx to crich)
Have started T cutting it,and wow it comes up well!! Haven't taken the seat covers off yet, but from what i can see, even the seats are good!
the hydralic leak is coming from the drivers side,at the back of the engine,is this the octipus? i could realy do without this now! but at least if its replaced i know its going to last a while!!
i pick up my Ami super from the Chevronic centre end of the month,so will proberly limp the BX to him to sort out,and get it MOT'd and checked over at the same time,
can't wait to drive it to France!! who'd be up for a convoy to Paris one weekend??
i now currently own 3 MK1 BX's, an A,B,& C reg,and did own a D reg!! is this a current record?!

I don't know about Paris (where driving is hardly fun) - more like the Suisse Normande? (Brilliant driving country!)

Sounds like the octopus - particularly as you were able to drive it all that distance. If that octopus has lasted 24 years it's done well. Back of front subframe, driver's side is where I'd expect the leak to be.

Do have a look at the point where the 2 plastic return pipes from the rear suspension and height corrector join the octopus, as a simple pop-off here can give the impression of a full-blown octopus failure when all that's needed is to reunite the pipe with the rubber "tentacles". Not that it's easy in slimy conditions...
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Most likely going to be the short length from the octopus where it joins the front HC. They ALWAYS go there....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Well, the BX14 has gone to the Chevronic centre, they love the car! they are replacing the front pipe thats gone, but the rear pipework is looking iffy,so these are being replaced, then will be MOT'd and serviced,
By chance, does any one have a pastel blue passenger front door going spare?

I've never, ever seen that colour on a BX before so have fun with the ali mesh the seller gave you!

Check that pipework DAMN carefully before you drive all the way back from Chevronics, OK?

See you at the weekend, maybe.
